Ken Starr, the attorney general who conducted the brutal Whitewater investigation into then-President Bill Clinton and whose case report revealed intimate details about Clinton's extramarital sex, died Tuesday in Houston after complications from surgery. He is 76 years old.
His family announced his death in a statement.

Nominated by former President Ronald Reagan to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Washington, DC district court, Starr served as United States Attorney General under President George HW Bush. He received the most public attention—political opponents might say contemptuously—as an independent adviser during the Clinton administration. Starr was originally hired to investigate the suicide of Vince Foster, a White House deputy defense attorney, and a Whitewater Clinton real estate investment.
The investigation will extend beyond its original mission: After Clinton denied having a "sexual relationship" with former intern Monica Lewinsky, allegations of perjury led to the president's impeachment. Clinton was later acquitted at trial before the United States Senate.
After more than four years of investigation, Starr released the Starr Report, which included shocking details that would become part of the ethics of the 1990s, including, as evidence, a Lewinsky Blue Gap suit that Starr said contained traces of DNA of Clinton and a shell. . . In the decades following the Clinton investigation, Starr became a constant presence on Fox News, appearing on Outnumbered, Cavuto Live, Hannity, Fox and Friends, Tucker Carlson Tonight and America's Newsroom, among others.

Starr will also be involved in other high-profile legal cases: in 2007, he joined the team to defend Jeffrey Epstein against rape charges (a plea deal led to Epstein spending 13 months released a job) and in 2020 lawyers made a part of that. Starr is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Mindell Starr, children Randall B. Starr, Caroline S Doolittle and Cynthia S. Romer, their husbands, and nine grandchildren.
In a statement on behalf of the family, Jr. Randall Starr said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear and beloved father, whom we admired for his incredible work ethic, but who always put his family first. , his energy, his charming sense of humor and the loving concern his father showed for each of us. He was very special and we cherish the wonderful memories we have of him. He is now with his Lord and Salvatore. "
Starr will be buried at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin.
