‘Top Gun: Maverick Named Best Film By National Board Of Review; Spielberg, Farrell, Yeoh Among Honorees

Today, the National Board of Reviews announced the highest-grossing film of 2022 as the film of the year.

The news comes just an hour after the PGA announced that Maverick star Tom Cruise has been given the 2023 David & Selznick Achievement Award, film's highest honor. Check out NBR's list of the 10 best movies of the year and other winners below.

Elsewhere, Steven Spielberg won best director for the semi-biographical Fable Men, Colin Farrell won best actor for Inishrein's Banshee – after winning the Gotham Award last week – and Michelle Yeoh took the overall best actress award . While star Danielle Didwiler didn't miss the Gotham Awards , she accepted an NBR Breakthrough Performance Award today alongside Fablemans actress Gabrielle LaBelle.

The screenplay award went to Martin McDonagh for The Banshee of Inishrein (original) and Edward Berger, Leslie Patterson and Ian Stockl (adapted) for All Quiet on the Western Front .

Marcel's Shell with Shoes won Best Senior Documentary and Best Animated Feature. Belgium's entry to the International Film Awards Academy Awards is closed.
