High School Sports: Schedules, Results As Girls Basketball Enters Winter Sports Postseason

Women's basketball joins soccer, weightlifting, and competitive cheerleading in the postseason. This week is reserved for regional playoff games.

Half of the soccer teams were eliminated last week and the rest are gearing up for the regional title war this week. The Jungle boys and girls can claim the title for themselves until Tuesday.

Girl power takes center stage Thursday and Friday to determine the regional champions and state qualifiers. The animation of the competition lasted until Friday and Saturday to determine the state champions.

Northern Marion defeated the East Side 53-29

The Colts advance to the second round of the Class 4A Class V Tournament.

Vanguard defeated Leesburg 45-19

The Knights advance to the second round of the 5A tournament in District 5. Junior Makiya Mitchell scored 17 points. Gila Gunsby had six points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. Anyah Hope had a season-high 14 rebounds along with two steals and three blocks.
