These Philly Sports Teams Have Given Us A Lot Of Fun Over The Past 40 Years

How good is this Eagles season?

New York led NFC "powerhouses" like the Vikings and Cowboys if they beat the Lions from opening day (they were much better than we all expected). Giants and San Francisco 49ers in the postseason. It was a fun activity.

They suffered an early loss to quarterback Jalen Hurts, and that loss was a tough one for Washington, who finished in last place in the division.

This team has been giving us reason to be excited since September, and with a lineup that includes Jason Kelce, Brandon Graham, Lane Johnson and AJ Brown, you can't help but love this team.

This isn't the first time Philadelphia has fallen in love with a team. In fact, over the last 30 years we have had many private teams gracing our stadiums and televisions.

There will be plenty of time to celebrate this team. The playoffs begin on February 12th, and the Eagles have a chance to beat Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.

But before we turn our narrow eyes to the Super Bowl, let's take a look at some of the funniest teams we've enjoyed over the past 30 years.

Of course, we love any team that wins the championship, but we've had some really close teams and some of them, while not the best in the league, have been fun to watch and support.

Here are some fan favorites.

It was a surprise because it was not expected to be so big. They had Chris Pronger, the best player in the league at the time, and a great supporting cast. When that team went down 3-0 in the series against the Boston Bruins, he was impressive before tying it in three games before losing 3-0 in Game 7 of the second round and sending the Bruins home. In the end, the Flyers lost to the Black Hawks, a very good hockey team, in six games. It was a surprise visit and you made it so much better!

9. 2022 union

Soccer is a great sport, and the Philadelphia Union is the fifth favorite team, along with the Big Four. Al Ittihad had a good season and won the league. The team went 19-5-10 and came within seconds of winning the MLS Championship before losing in penalty kicks in Los Angeles. It took them 13 years to get to the big game, and it probably won't take them long to get back. This team is excited to play the Nov. 5 game an hour before the Phillies take on the Astros on Fox. It was a tough loss for the Union, but at least it hit Los Angeles backup goalie Johnny McCarthy, a kid from Philadelphia who played in the Catholic (North) League. Cinnaminson, the father of the same name, was a former mayor of New Jersey.

8. Sixers 2018-2019

Any of the 66 in this tournament could have done it, but it was a team I wasn't emotionally prepared for. Joel Embiid was showing what he could be, we still think Ben Simmons is the best player and they had Jimmy Butler which was fun to watch. After about 20 seconds of this Kawhi Leonard shot, 15 people made a deal with the devil to get this shot. I'm still in the mood, but I think I'll pick this win.

Joe Carter's home run ended in tragedy, but he was the definition of lightning in a bottle and that's what made that summer so exciting. This season has been exciting, with the Padres ending the doubleheader in 16:40 with their first win of the season over the Astros. They then beat the Braves and the entire staff before crushing the surprising Blue Jays. Maybe it could have been much higher, but it turns out that a lot of the guys on this team aren't what we thought they were.

6. 2004 Eagles

Say what you will about Terrell Owens, say what you will about Donovan McNabb, when those two were on the field together, it was magical. It wasn't much, but Owens was one of the funniest athletes I've ever seen, and when he returned to the Super Bowl he made us love him even more by putting up some wild numbers. This team also had a good defense, a good offensive line and Brian Westbrook. Todd Pinkston is underrated, and Chad Lewis is not. Losing in the Super Bowl made us all sick, including our star!

5. 1995. Booklet

Every team Eric Lidros has been a part of has been a lot of fun, but Philadelphia knew what a really cut season is. He finished the year as the NHL MVP. An early offseason trade sent Mark Richie to the Canadiens for John LeClair, Gilbert Dion and Eric Desjardins. Heck, seeing Ron Hextall back on the gridiron was fun. The season ended with a loss to the New Jersey Devils, but the season was the first in Rayrier hockey history.

4. 2022 Phyllis

Baseball lost a decade in October before this year's team made the playoffs, then got swept by the Cardinals, Braves and Padres and reached the World Series, where the team lost to the Houston Astros. I think it was fun because it was unexpected. The team struggled in the first half of the season before gaining momentum and starting to achieve their goals. Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and JT Rilmoto really light up this team. At the beginning of the season, I thought this team was going to be very disappointing. I was shocked when this team lost in Game 6 of the World Series. What an improvement on opening day!

3. 2001 Sixers

Allen Iverson didn't have much help on the scoreboard, but he was all they needed. He had great defenders around him and took the 6-foot guard to the NBA Finals. They lost 4-1, but the team couldn't let the Lakers win in one game. After stealing the first game, the 6ers made me believe they could beat one of the best teams in NBA history, and they did it by playing smart defensive basketball. Eric Snow, Aaron Mackey, Dikembe Muthomba, Eric Snow and George Lynch were members of that group and they were all pretty cool. And I don't care if you don't like coaching Iverson, show me someone who makes the game more fun.

2. 2017 Eagles

Another team that was easy to fit in and admire when it won the city's first Super Bowl. Nick Foles will forever be a legend for what he did in the rankings, and he was a big reason for the show, but there were plenty of accolades. The NFL is hard to beat, but this team made the playoffs with a backup quarterback, beat some good NFC teams, and then won the championship against Tom Brady. It doesn't happen often. After the performance, Jason Kelce went from a great offensive lineman to a favorite in Philadelphia, and rightly so. It was the whole team.

1. 2008 Phyllis

If you're hitting a 25-year-old out-of-town picker, you'll be fine at this level. You will be the first in 30 years with a team that includes Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Carlos Ruiz and Shane Victorino. This year was special. We still have Harry Callas, we still have Charlie Manuel, who is loved by the entire universe, all of his stars were in great shape, and Cole Hammel was throwing like the best pitcher in baseball. The image of Brad Lidge kneeling after victory will be remembered forever, because we deserve it. We all did it.
