Priyanka Chopra Jonas has opened up about why she left her burgeoning film career in Bollywood for a risky move to Hollywood, leading to lead roles in Quantico and the new spy series Citadel .

“I was pushed into a corner in the industry. There are people who do not vote for me for reasons. I'm having jams with people. Again, I can't play this game. I'm sick of politics," Chopra Jonas told Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast on the March 27 episode.

Chopra Jonas talked about winning the Miss World beauty pageant in 2000 and becoming a Bollywood star for the next decade before moving to Los Angeles in 2015. Chopra Jonas said that she faced differences with her male counterparts in India and the situation has changed in the current broadcasting era because top actresses can win titles with men.

"Films with men and women have sold out. That change was prompted by a new generation coming in and saying, 'Okay, make a Bollywood space, but with me too,'" he said.

Another difference from Hollywood is that it pales in comparison to Bollywood in its own galaxy. "I don't think you've seen those stars. I don't think Tom Cruise saw that. Not me but we have actors who have that loyalty and love," Chopra Jonas said of the fame and success of India's top star.

However, Chopra Jonas went to Hollywood, a risky move, and we were hanging on to a pop music career in Los Angeles thanks to a contract with Interscope Records. Chopra Jonas has worked with Pitbull, will.i.am, Pharrell and Matthew Koma and dined with Bruce Springsteen, Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

"I was really like, 'I'm a pop star now!'" recalls Chopra Jonas. He then decided to return to acting, this time in Hollywood, as he had a day job in India. She signed with CAA – the first Indian film star to sign with a Hollywood talent agency – and started her career in Los Angeles, eventually securing a talent deal with ABC Studios, which produced Quantico.

“So every job I get, I have to build my filmography in English when I play small roles in films, there are many people who know me from my film days, Indians, asking why I did this after Hollywood. minor roles and B-movies, you say,” added Chopra as Jonas ended his jump from Bollywood to Hollywood.
