MARS, Dad. (KDKA) — Saturday's storms wreaked havoc across the area, including Butler County.
The terrifying scene unfolded in Butler County after the wind blew off the roof of a store full of customers.
KDKA's Jennifer Borrasso shared an exclusive video, leaving more devastation in the area.
A large tree fell on Myoma Street. The forces managed to get him out of the line.
It remains a mess, but not far away, in the center of Mars, it's a scary situation. KDKA obtained exclusive surveillance video that shows just how devastating this storm was.
The wind was so strong that it blew off the roof of the rescued PGH in the center of Mars. Inside was the owner, an employee and a dozen customers.
No one inside or outside was injured.
"We just don't know what happened," said Natasha Smith.
Smith heard screams from his shop and then saw debris flying.
"[We] just heard this loud bang, almost sounded like a train coming, and we just started seeing things flying across the street, and yeah, kind of crazy."
Part of the roof hit a parked van. There was no one in the vehicle.
March Mayor Gregg Hartung told KDKA the man managed to escape.
“There was a truck under the roof and we were able to lift the roof and get to the boy; he can get his van out. Nobody got hurt, thank God, and we're just trying to do everything we can to clean it up, now we can reopen the city," Hartung said.
Sky Eye 2 captures the view from above. There was minor damage to the chiropractor's building across the street.
The crew cleared debris and battled strong winds.
In PGH that has recovered, the roof is gone and there is water in the building. The store is now closed until we can reopen.
Power outages were reported across the region.
In Butler Township, trees fell on two homes on Whitestown Road. And in neighboring Armstrong County, people flocked to cut down trees from State Route 268.
Robert McLafferty, 911 coordinator, says they handle 20 times the number of calls they normally receive in an hour. Reports of hundreds of fallen trees, cables and poles blocking roads.
"We had a strong storm. When it came, we had big trees and a lot of small trees blocking roads, bringing down power lines, other utility lines that destroyed the whole area," McLafferty added.
McLafferty told KDKA sporadic power outages continued.
Some fire services open their doors as a warming center.
