Well, that’s based on what we know so far.

Instead, the CEO will be in Malaysia to attend the upcoming KL20 Summit which is organised by the Ministry of Economy. Unlike Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Carl has visited Kuala Lumpur before when he was still with OnePlus.

According to the event’s website, he is scheduled to be part of a fireside chat on 23 April. The site also noted that the topic of the session would be “The Future of Personal Computing In the Age of AI”.

Some may find it odd that Carl will be discussing the topic since Nothing is more known for its smartphone and earbuds but there have been some AI-related developments happening to the brand recently.

Starting earlier this year, Nothing Phone owners can use ChatGPT as their virtual assistant. As explained in a tweet by Carl himself, you can activate this feature by installing the ChatGPT app into the device and utilising the voice chat feature at least once.

Meanwhile, a tweet posted by Nothing’s official X account earlier today seemed to be hinting at ChatGPT integration for their upcoming audio products, the Nothing Ear and Ear (a). Both of these products will be fully unveiled to the world this coming Thursday, 18 April.

In a recent tweet, the Minister of Economy, Rafizi Ramli said that the KL20 Summit is not just a conference but instead “a revolution”. Set to take place at KL Convention Centre from 22 to 23 April, the event aims to become a catalyst that can propel KL to become one of the top 20 global startup hubs by 2030.

Based on what we can see on the event’s official website, it is loaded with keynotes and discussions around startups, entrepreneurship, venture capital, fintech, AI, and semiconductors. It has also been pitched as a platform for startups to connect with investors, mentors, and potential collaborators through various activities such as investor speed dating, networking lunches, and soirées.

Together with Carl Pei, more than 50 expert speakers will be present throughout the 2-day event. If you are interested in attending, you can register your interest at KL20 Summit’s official website right here.
