Aside from the new Honor Pad 9 5G and the refreshed MagicBook X 16, the Chinese manufacturer has also announced the Honor X7b 5G, an updated version of their smartphone that they had originally launched late last year. The Honor X7b 5G comes with a different processor that supports 5G connectivity, giving Malaysians an option in the sub-RM1,000 scene for 5G smartphones.

Honor X7b 5G Malaysia pricing and availability

The Honor X7b 5G will come in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM899, which is RM100 more than what the 4G-only version retailed for when it debuted last year. It will go on sale from 25 April onwards on the Honor Malaysia website, their official store on Lazada, Shopee and TIkTok as well as their telco and retail partners such as Urban Republic, Harvey Norman, Senheng, U Mobile and Yes 5G.

Honor X7b 5G specs

The Honor X7b 5G is pretty much the same device as the older 4G-only version, just with a different chipset. This means you’re getting a similar 6.8-inch, FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 850nits. It’s available in Emerald Green and Crystal Silver colourways; the latter will also have a textured finish on the back panel.

Under the hood then is where the biggest difference is for the Honor X7b 5G compared to the regular Honor X7b. Unlike its predecessor that had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, the X7b 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 6020, an entry-level, 5G capable system-on-chip mated to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It comes with Android 13 out of the box, skinned with MagicOS 7.2 over it.

Elsewhere, the Honor X7b 5G has a triple rear camera on the back, with a main 108MP, f/1.75 camera flanked by a 2MP, f/2.4 macro sensor and a 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. A front-facing 8MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter meanwhile rounds things off. Keeping the lights on is a 6,000mAh battery with 35W fast charging. Other features of note include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers and support for 5G, Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 5 wireless connectivity.
