Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers heading up to Terengganu and Kelantan on the LPT2 can travel with less anxiety with Shell Recharge’s latest DC charger deployment. The latest EV charging location is at Shell R&R Perasing in Terengganu, which is located about 30km away from Kuantan.

The Shell Recharge location at Perasing R&R features a StarCharge 180kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles. With two EVs plugged in, it should dynamically split up to 90kW per vehicle. To activate these chargers, you’ll need to download the ParkEasy app and reload with sufficient credits.

Similar to other Shell Recharge DC fast chargers, this EV charger costs RM2.20 per kWh and there’s a confirmation fee of RM5.00 to reserve the charging bay. 15 minutes after charging is completed, Shell Recharge imposes a RM8 idle fee for every 15 minutes if you don’t move your vehicle.

It is also worth noting that Shell Recharge Platinum members can enjoy a discounted rate of RM0.80 per kWh while Gold members get a discounted rate of RM1.30 per kWh. The Platinum membership is provided complimentary for Porsche EV owners for three years, while the Shell Recharge Gold membership costs RM835 per year.

More EV chargers are needed on LPT Highway

What’s unique about R&R Perasing is that it is accessible from both directions of LPTs. This could be a crucial location for EV owners who need to charge between Kuala Terengganu and Kuantan.

The next DC fast charger up north is TNB Electron at R&R Paka Eastbound. Located 78km away, the Paka DC Charger is only accessible to EV owners heading towards Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bharu.

With more EVs hitting Malaysian roads, there is a strong need to deploy more DC charging stations along interstate highways to address concerns of EV range anxiety. DC Handal recently deployed a 47kW DC Charger at Hentian Gua Musang which makes it more feasible for sub-500km range EVs to get from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu via the Gua Musang route.
