The ultralight, ultraportable Huawei MateBook X Pro is finally officially in Malaysia. Having been teased by Huawei Malaysia since it made its global debut last week, the MateBook X Pro takes the idea of thin-and-light laptop to its extreme, weighing in at less than 1kg and measuring just 13.5mm thin despite packing up to an Intel Core Ultra 9.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro will be available in two configurations depending on your requirements, which are:
- Huawei MateBook X Pro, Intel Core Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD – RM8,999
- Huawei MateBook X Pro, Intel Core Ultra 9, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD – RM10,999
Available for pre-order from 14 till 24 May, those who pre-order one will also be able to snag free gifts worth up to RM4,582. These include the Huawei MatePad 11″ PaperMatte Edition, the Huawei MatePad Smart Keyboard, the Huawei M-Pencil 2nd Gen, a Huawei Bluetooth mouse, a copy of Microsoft 365, a backpack, a laptop stand and a 1+1 year Huawei extended warranty.
Huawei MateBook X Pro specs
The biggest selling point for the MateBook X Pro has got to its its ultraportable 980g weight. Huawei says that they managed to achieve this despite retaining its magnesium alloy body with a matte finish by adopting a new ‘Cloud Falcon Architecture’. It’s basically a new modular PCB design that uses lighter and fewer components to reduce its weight.
Another of the MateBook X Pro’s weight-saving measure includes using a 14.2-inch flexible OLED display, which features a 93% screen-to-body ratio and a 3120 x 2080p resolution. It’s also the first Huawei MateBook laptop display to have full coverage of the Adobe RGB colour gamut, on top of true 10-bit colour depth, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1,000nits peak brightness.
Powering the MateBook X Pro meanwhile are Intel’s latest Meteor Lake processors, with your choice between the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H or the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H. If you opt for the former you’ll get 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the latter gets double of that with 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. You’ll also get Intel Arc integrated graphics and Windows 11 out of the box. Keeping it all cool is a Huawei Shark Fin heat dissipation system that they claim offers up to 50% higher air pressure and 22% higher airflow overall, giving you a max TDP of 40W.
Perhaps due to how thin it is you won’t find too much in terms of I/O on the MateBook X Pro, with a USB-C port on the right and another two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left. There is still support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity though, with a 3D Metalline antenna for increased reception up to 330 meters away. Other features of note include a new Huawei Free Touch pressure-sensing haptic touchpad, a 70Wh battery with support for 90W fast charging, a six speaker setup, backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel and a fingerprint sensor on the power button.
