Mah Sing to open data centre hub in Southville City Bangi, signs BDC as first partner

Mah Sing has officially unveiled its plan to establish a data centre hub at Southville City in Bangi. The renowned property developer also announced that Bridge Data Centres (BDC) has agreed to become the first company to establish a facility at the new hub.

Officially called the Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City, the developer has earmarked 150 acres of land for the project. As Southville City itself has 428 acres of land, this means the new hub is going to occupy around 35% of the township.

Location is a vital factor when it comes to the viability of a data centre and Mah Sing seems confident with what Southville City has to offer. For one, it is a mature township that is just 19km away from Kuala Lumpur City Centre and has direct access to the North-South Expressway.

Mah Sing also highlighted that the upcoming hub is 20km away from Cyberjaya and Bukit Jalil which already houses several data centre hubs. The establishment of the hub in Southville City would create a highly strategic data centre hub triangle, according to the developer.

Another major factor that helped drive the creation of the new hub is its distance to TM’s upcoming cable landing station in Morib. The station which is part of the SEA-ME-WED 6 submarine cable is set to deliver one of the lowest latency routes between Malaysia and Europe.

As the station is less than 50km away from Southville City, Mah Sing said that it can be linked directly to the new data centre hub via a dark fibre network. With a planned capacity of up to 500MW, the developer is looking to attract tech corporations, telcos, and financial institutions to its new hub especially those that are into AI computation and large-scale data storage.
