What happens to existing users on 29 Aug?

After failing to secure a new owner, the Yoodo brand will be discontinued on 29th August 2024. Yoodo has provided more details of its transition plan and the digital telco will begin disabling several functions including new SIM order and activation starting next week.

To recap, the discontinuation of Yoodo is due to the undertakings committed to the MCMC following the merger of Celcom and Digi. Yoodo, the digital telco under Celcom, was given 18 months to be divested upon completion of the merger. Upon expiry of the divestiture period, the brand has to be shut down.

No new Yoodo signups from 19th June 2024

According to the latest announcement, the following functions will be disabled from the Yoodo app starting 19th June 2024:

  • New SIM order (Except for replacement SIM)
  • New SIM activation (Except for replacement SIM)
  • Account Registration
  • Invite Friends
  • Customised Validity Extension

What happens to existing Yoodo customers?

From now until 29th August 2024, existing Yoodo customers have three options:

  1. Port out your existing Yoodo number to another telco of choice
  2. Terminate your Yoodo service
  3. Continue existing plan with CelcomDigi

The announcement stated that existing Yoodo customers will be assured that they can continue using their existing service (data, voice and SMS) without any interruption.

The FAQ states that the Yoodo brand will be discontinued on 29th August, while the plan will continue as CelcomDigi Prepaid 5G. If you want to continue on your existing plan and don’t wish to port out to other telcos, it says that your existing subscription plan and remaining credit balance will continue under CelcomDigi Prepaid 5G.

Once the plan is moved to CelcomDigi Prepaid 5G, it is mentioned that there will be no charges if you continue with your plan with CelcomDigi and there’s no SIM card replacement required.

However, it isn’t clear if your current personalised Yoodo plan configuration (e.g. RM20 for 20GB) will still be available after the migration to CelcomDigi Prepaid 5G is completed. One of the key highlights of Yoodo is its wide variety of plan combinations as users can personalise how much data, calls and SMS they want and add-on boosters and extra data for specific apps.

If you do not wish to continue with CelcomDigi and prefer to port out, existing Yoodo users can request a credit balance refund. Users can submit their request via the Credits Refund Form between 1st July and 29th August 2024. The remaining balance will be remitted to your registered Malaysian bank account number within 30 working days.
