The iPhone 16 series officially lands in Malaysia tomorrow and it appears that the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is now offered with a significant discount. Officially available since last month, the top-of-the-line Google Pixel phones can be yours with up to RM1,100 off!
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is now going for RM4,599
Based on the product listing by authorised reseller Urban Republic, the 6.8″ Pixel 9 Pro XL is now offered from RM4,599 for the base 128GB model.
As a reference, the Pixel 9 Pro XL 128GB is originally priced at RM5,699. Urban Switch is also offering instalment plans up to 36 months and you can own the device from RM128/month.
At the time of writing, all colours seem to be in stock but the discount appears to be only applicable for the 128GB model.
Google Pixel 9 offered with up to RM700 off but you need to trade in a phone
Meanwhile, the base 6.3″ Google Pixel 9 is offered with a discount of up to RM700. However, it appears that this RM700 off promo is only applicable if you opt to trade in your current phone.
The Pixel 9 128GB is officially priced at RM3,999 but it can be yours for RM3,299 with the trade-in offer. On instalment, the Pixel 9 can be yours for RM92/month over a 36-month duration.
It is quite misleading to show a discounted price on the product page but in reality, it requires a trade-in option.
It is interesting to see such a massive discount for a brand-new Google Pixel just barely a month after it was officially released in Malaysia. In terms of pricing, the Pixel is facing some tough competition with the recently announced iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Pro.
For the base 6.3″ model, the Pixel 9 128GB and the iPhone 16 128GB are priced the same at RM3,999. If you step up to the next model, the 6.3″ Pixel 9 Pro 128GB is priced at RM5,199, which is higher than the 6.3″ iPhone 16 Pro which is currently retailing at RM4,999.
If you want a flagship phone with the biggest screen possible, the larger 6.9″ iPhone 16 Pro Max is actually cheaper at RM5,999 for 256GB versus the Pixel 9 Pro XL 256GB which is priced at RM6,199.
While Google Pixel has its own fans, the iPhone seems to be a more tempting option in terms of value considering that it is up to RM500 cheaper than its predecessor. On top of that, there’s now an official local Apple Store in Malaysia which offers 14-day returns and refunds policy.
