Good news for EV drivers heading to Kota Bharu. Gentari has deployed another 180kW DC Charger in Kelantan located at Petronas Padang Tembak. This is the Charge Point Operator’s fourth DC Charger deployment around Kota Bharu and it’s among the fastest EV chargers in the state.
The Petronas Padang Tembak EV charging site is located about 10 minutes away (4.7km) from Kota Bharu Sultan Ismail Petra Airport. Similar to the Petronas Pasir Pekan location, Gentari has deployed a 180kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles.
The charger costs RM1.50 per kWh and you can activate the charger via Gentari Go, JomCharge and ChargEV app. If you have an annual Gentari Go membership, the charger will only cost you RM0.75 per kWh.
Kelantan’s EV charging infrastructure has been expanding at a good pace in the past couple of months. Around Kota Bharu itself, there are now 7 DC charging locations as listed below:
- Hotel Perdana Kota Bharu (Gentari 60kW x2 nozzles)
- Proton 3S JM Otomobil Inovatif (Gentari 60kW x2 nozzles)
- Petronas Pasir Pekan (Gentari 180kW x2 nozzles)
- Petronas Padang Tembak (Gentari 180kW x2 nozzles)
- BMW Raza Premium Kota Bharu (ChargEV 30kW x1 nozzle)
- Mydin Kubang Kerian (ChargeSini 60kW x2 nozzles)
- Aeon Kota Bharu (TNB Electron 47kW x2 nozzles)
Of course, more high-powered DC chargers are still very much needed outside the capital city to build range confidence. There’s currently a TNB Electron 100kW DC Charger at Petron Selising and a DC Handal 47kW DC Charger at Perhentian Gua Musang.
Besides Kelantan, we are seeing new EV chargers being deployed in the state of Terengganu. Gentari has recently turned on its 150kW DC Charger with 4x nozzles at Petronas Rantau in Kerteh, while TNB Electron recently deployed a 34kW DC Charger at Petron Kg Gemuroh.
EV Connection has also revealed plans to deploy three battery-assisted DC fast chargers in the East Coast by the end of this year.
