SAIC Motor Malaysia will launch another fully electric MG model very soon and it’s the sexy-looking MG Cyberster roadster. This is a fully electric two-seater roadster which features scissor doors and there’s no EV like it right now in Malaysia.
According to SAIC, bookings for the MG Cyberster are available for pre-launch booking and the EV will be making its first official public appearance in Malaysia this coming weekend.
MG Cyberster to come only with AWD for Malaysia
In other markets, the MG Cyberster is offered in RWD and AWD variants which offer different battery and motor setup. For the Malaysian market, we are only getting the range-topping MG Cyberster AWD with twin motors that produce an impressive 375kW (503hp) and 725Nm of torque.
This two-door EV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds, up to a top speed of 200km/h. Equipped with a 77kWh battery, the MG Cyberster has a WLTP-rated range of 446km on a single charge.
In terms of charging, it supports DC charging up to 150kW and 10-80% charge takes 38 minutes. However, for AC charging, it only supports 7kW single-phase which will take over 10 hours to charge from 10-100%.
The Cyberster has a retractable soft top roof and features powered frameless scissor doors that open upwards. The AWD model comes with 20-inch Jetstream alloy wheels with striking red calipers.
According to SAIC Malaysia, the incoming Cyberster will include a sports interior package which Leather Sports Seats with Alcantara inserts and a Nappa Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel. There’s also a 7″ central touch screen and a 10.25″ driver display, accompanied by two 7″ auxiliary screens. The two-door EV also comes with an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
The Cyberster is also equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance system features which include Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Intelligent High Beam Assist.
MG Cyberster expected pricing in Malaysia
The MG Cyberster is expected to be priced below RM350,000 in Malaysia. It will be offered in four colours – Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, Inca Yellow and English White.
The Dynamic Red and Camden Grey will feature black and red interiors while the Inca Yellow and English White come with grey interiors.
