Gentari has turned on more EV chargers ahead of the Deepavali festive season. Besides the new DC charging hub at X Park Sendayan, the charge point operator has deployed a 240kW DC charger at Petronas KLIA 2, located just before the ramp to enter KLIA Terminal 2 (formerly known as KLIA2).
This latest EV charger deployment reuses existing petrol station infrastructure formerly used for NGV refuelling. This is the second example we’ve seen after Petronas Rantau in Kerteh, Terengganu.
Similar to Petronas Rantau Kerteh, this Petronas KLIA 2 site is covered and it uses a Kempower DC charger with two satellite terminals equipped with two CCS2 nozzles each. The total 240kW charging capacity is shared dynamically across the four charging bays.
Like other DC chargers on Gentari’s EV charging network, the charger costs RM1.50 per kWh, or RM0.75 per kWh if you have an active Gentari Go annual membership. You can activate these chargers via Gentari Go, JomCharge and ChargEV apps.
Other EV chargers around KLIA
The new DC charging location is a great addition to KLIA especially for EV drivers making the usual airport run. Before this, the only DC charger in the area was a 50kW Kempower DC charger with one CCS2 nozzle located at the Petronas KLIA station across the highway.
If you’re going to be parked for a few hours at the airport, Gentari has 9x 7kW AC charge points at KLIA2 gateway Block A CP3 (Pillar E1 F1) which are priced at RM0.13 per minute (RM7.80 per hour). Meanwhile, ChargEV has 3x 22kW AC charge points at KLIA Block A Level 2 (Pillar A-2-5) which are priced at RM2.00 per 10 minute (RM12 per hour).
