The Oppo Find X8 series will be launching globally on 21st November 2024 and Malaysia will be among the first few markets to get it.
While most smartphone makers are releasing their new flagship smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, Oppo has instead chosen MediaTek’s latest 3nm Dimensity 9400 chipset to power its flagship series. Following its official launch in China last month, Oppo has confirmed that global units of the Find X8 and X8 Pro will also run on the Dimensity 9400, and they will be the first globally available smartphone to feature the latest chipset.
MediaTek Dimensity 9400 global debut with the Oppo Find X8 series
The new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip is built on TSMC’s second generation 3nm process and it is said to be up to 40% more power efficient compared to its previous generation chip, allowing longer battery life without compromising on performance. The flagship chip uses MediaTek’s second-generation All Big Core design featuring 1x ARM Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.62GHz, 3x Cortex-X4 and 4x Cortex-A720 cores. It claims to offer 35% faster single-core performance and 28% faster multi-core performance compared to MediaTek’s pervious generation flagship chipset.
To support ColorOS’s advanced generative AI features, the chip also features MediaTek’s 8th generation NPU which boasts up to 80% faster large language model (LLM) prompt performance while having up to 35% better power efficiency when handling AI tasks.
In the imaging department, the Oppo Find X8 series combines the power of MediaTek’s Imagiq 1090 ISP with Hasselblad Master Camera System and HyperTone Image Engine for improved photography and video performance. The combination provides advancements for AI-powered zoom, lowlight performance, HDR video and smooth zoom between cameras. Users can expect improved battery life for video recording as the Dimensity 9400 chip claims to use up to 14% less power while shooting 4K videos at 60fps.
For seamless connectivity, the Oppo Find X8 series claims to offer improved connectivity with its AI LinkBoost matched with Dimensity 9400’s connectivity suite. Oppo says users can expect a more stable and wider WiFi range of up to 30m thanks to MediaTek’s Xtra Range 3.0 feature.
