Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Slim dual-camera flagship teased

Besides the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, Samsung provided a little surprise towards the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event. As speculated earlier, the Korean smartphone maker had teased a new Galaxy S25 model which is expected to be released at a later time.

The thing is, it isn’t called the Galaxy S25 Slim. Instead, the new device is called the Galaxy S25 Edge.

It has been a while since we’ve heard the “edge” moniker for a brand new Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

The name “edge” name was previously used for the “curved” screen variant which was positioned as a premium flagship phone feature at the time. This includes the Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S6 edge and the Galaxy S7 edge.

During the closing of the Galaxy Unpacked event, the Galaxy Edge Slim was described as “a culmination of our most innovative technology packed in a form that’s sleek, powerful and unlike anything you’ve seen before.” From the quick teasers, this seems to be an incredibly thin flagship device and it should be the thinnest flagship Samsung Galaxy yet. Despite having the Edge name, we don’t think that the new smartphone would come with a dual-curved display like its former models.

The short teaser also revealed a rather compact construction with lots of size reduction of the internal components including camera sensors. It is also interesting to note is that the Galaxy S25 Edge appears to come with just two rear cameras as indicated by the two camera modules and the pill-shaped camera bump.

What we do know is that Samsung has an ISOCELL ALoP camera that’s ready to go. It features a new compact optical structure that occupies less space while enabling a slimmer smartphone design with less pronounced camera bump. With a slim smartphone, one of the biggest sacrifices is battery capacity and it would be interesting if Samsung were to reveal a new high density battery technology that enables the Galaxy S25 edge to provide similar battery life as its thicker Galaxy S25+ or S25 Ultra siblings.

So far there’s no availability and pricing details just yet. We are guessing that the Galaxy S25 Edge could be released in the next quarter or during the unveiling of the next Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. However, we still don’t know if it will ever be released in Malaysia or if it’s exclusive to select countries.
