Shopping for an iPhone, but don’t want to break the bank? You must be eagerly waiting for Apple’s upcoming 4th-generation iPhone SE. Not to get your hopes too high, but Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, just dropped a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, announcing that the company will be launching a new product on the 19th of February, with a caption that reads “Get ready to meet the newest member of the family”.
Well most of you, including myself, will be expecting this event to be the introduction of Apple’s upcoming midrange smartphone. But could Apple be launching a new iPad instead? Well, no one outside of Apple knows just yet.
iPhone SE 4’s design leaked? Recycled iPhone 14?
Last week, case manufacturer Spigen “accidentally” posted images of what seems to be its phone case for the upcoming 4th generation iPhone SE, along with the phone itself. As you might have guessed, the images were then quickly taken down.
If the device featured in the images is indeed the iPhone SE 4, the phone is basically a recycled “iPhone 14” but with just a single camera module at the back, instead of two.

Just in case you weren’t aware, the past three generations of the iPhone SE were essentially also recycled versions of Apple’s past flagship smartphones, but with some internal upgrades here and there.
Also, we shouldn’t be too confident in calling this new midrange smartphone the “iPhone SE 4”, as there were reports suggesting that it might be called the iPhone 16E instead. We’ll have to see if that’s true when it finally launches.
Now back to the iPhone SE 4/16E. The phone is also expected to feature a 6.1-inch Super Retina OLED display along with Face ID contained within a notch at the top of the phone, just like the iPhone 14 did.

Like with previous-gen iPhone SE models, this fourth-generation device is anticipated to rock Apple’s latest mobile chip available, which in this case is the A18 chip featured in the non-Pro iPhone 16 series.
Other rumoured details of the iPhone SE 4/16E include a USB-C port, a single 48MP camera setup at the back, a 12MP selfie camera, and an action button instead of an alert switch.
