DNB is first to deploy 5G-powered mobile office with EVCN

Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) is the first organisation in the world to implement a 5G-first office using Ericsson’s Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN) solution. The announcement was made by DNB and Ericsson during Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) in Barcelona.

With EVCN, enterprises can use the 5G network as their own secure, cost-effective and low-maintenance network with private and programmable access, allowing employees to access their office applications securely from virtually anywhere. The solution eliminates traditional WiFi vulnerabilities, providing IT administrators greater visibility and control over device connectivity, which results in savings and user experience.

According to DNB, its employees can enjoy secure and seamless mobile work connectivity with EVCN. This is made possible with 5G-enabled laptops managed through EVCN, and integration with Microsoft Intune, Entra ID and DNB’s 5G network.

As part of their national digitalisation efforts, DNB says it is committed to replacing traditional WiFi with 5G as the primary service to enhance security, efficiency and scalability. It added that it plans to collaborate with mobile network operators (MNOs) to extend EVCN as a service for enterprise and government agencies across Malaysia.

Besides security and experience benefits, EVCN claims to offer greater operational efficiency and cost savings through its simplified network management, while reducing the need for old infrastructure. With cloud integration, enterprises will gain from a modern, flexible and scalable IT environment that supports digital transformation and business agility.

As the solution evolves together with service providers, DNB is also looking to expand into business and government sectors. It added by consolidating IT infrastructure within a 5G-based model, DNB is priming to strengthen its market position, offering enterprises a future-ready cloud-native IT solution.

The world-first 5G secure office environment implemented at DNB’s HQ demonstrates the power and potential of 5G to revolutionise enterprise IT. This collaboration is not just about enhancing connectivity, it’s about driving Malaysia’s digital transformation forward, enabling enterprises and government organizations to embrace secure, scalable, and agile solutions that will shape the next generation of business operations.”

Meanwhile, Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh David Hagerbro said, “This partnership with Digital Nasional Berhad marks a pivotal milestone in the evolution of enterprise connectivity. By integrating Ericsson’s Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN) with DNB’s nationwide 5G infrastructure, we are empowering organizations to move beyond traditional IT models and embrace a new era of cloud-native, secure, and scalable solutions. This collaboration is not just about enabling businesses to adopt the latest technologies, but about accelerating Malaysia’s broader digital transformation agenda. Together, we are laying the foundation for enterprises and government agencies to thrive in an increasingly hybrid and digital-first world, driving efficiency, innovation, and growth for years to come.”
