At MWC 2025, Tecno introduced more than just its Camon 40 series and a lineup of new MegaBook laptops. The brand also debuted its AI Glasses lineup, bringing the challenge to the likes of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. After a brief hands-on experience, it’s clear that the AI Glasses Pro, in particular, packs features that could make it a superior alternative.
What are the Tecno AI Glasses?

Tecno’s AI Glasses are smart glasses designed to rival the Ray-Ban Meta while offering additional capabilities. The lineup includes two models: the Tecno AI Glasses and the AI Glasses Pro.
First off, these Tecno AI Glasses look like regular glasses, and come with two design options – EyeBrow Frame and Aviator Style. The AI Glasses Pro in the image above feature the EyeBrow Frame, while the regular AI Glasses adopt the Aviator Design.

They also wear like regular glasses, thanks to them being made of aluminium alloy and lightweight composite materials, albeit with slightly thicker temples, which house hardware buttons and touchpads for interaction.
Also, you can control the AI Glasses using voice command, via Tecno’s Ella AI assistant, which integrates ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Gemini, though no specific large language models (LLMs) were mentioned. Additional features include real-time translation for over 100 languages, object recognition, and information summarisation.

Both models feature a 50MP f/2.4 camera with a 100-degree field of view. It’s paired with an OV50D sensor and a 6nm AstraSight image processor that sports AI noise reduction and AI HDR. And of course, you can use the camera to capture images and videos.
Interestingly, the camera placement differs between models – the AI Glasses position it on the side, while the AI Glasses Pro places it at the center.
What sets the AI Glasses Pro apart?

The Pro variant boasts one major upgrade – a microLED augmented reality (AR) display. Featuring the 7th-gen resin waveguide technology, the display lights up in green and can project real-time information such as language translation and summaries, directly in the wearer’s line of sight.
One particularly practical feature is its ability to function as a teleprompter, which can be useful for presentations, speeches, and content creation.
How do they compare against the Ray-Ban Meta?

During a hands-on session at MWC 2025, a media colleague familiar with the Ray-Ban Meta noted that Tecno’s offering felt more capable overall. Tecno also presented a spec comparison, highlighting key advantages:
- Battery Life: Tecno’s AI Glasses feature a 250mAh battery for up to 11 hours of use, compared to Ray-Ban Meta’s 149mAh battery, which lasts just 4 hours.
- Camera: Tecno’s 50MP sensor outperforms Ray-Ban Meta’s 12MP camera.
- Weight: Despite the added features, Tecno’s glasses remain lighter than the Ray-Ban Meta, enhancing everyday comfort.

Tecno’s AI Glasses, especially the Pro model, introduce a compelling blend of AI-enhanced functionality, longer battery life, and AR integration, making them a strong contender in the smart glasses market. While Ray-Ban Meta benefits from Meta’s ecosystem, Tecno’s advanced specs and innovative features could make it an attractive alternative.
Would you choose Tecno’s AI Glasses over the Ray-Ban Meta, or does Meta’s ecosystem still hold the upper hand?
