BYD Atto 3 can now be obtained in Malaysia at a much lower price than before. This is thanks to the arrival of the 2025 BYD Atto 3 Ultra which is RM26,000 cheaper than the 2024 model.

Specifically, the new BYD Atto 3 Ultra has a recommended retail price of RM123,800. Once you consider other related fees such as registration and inspection, the Atto 3 Ultra has an on-the-road (OTR) pricing of RM124,500 not inclusive of insurance.

When the BYD Atto 3 first made its debut in Malaysia back in December 2022, it came with a price tag of RM149,800 (RM150,430 OTR). This price tag remained the same until the arrival of the Atto 3 Ultra.

When it comes to colourways, the options are more limited than before though. The Atto 3 Ultra can only be obtained in three colourways including Ski White, Harbour Grey, and Cosmos Black while previous options such as Surf Blue, Parkour Red, and Forest Green are now gone.

Warranty-wise, the Atto 3 Ultra still carries a 6-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty. There is also an 8-year / 160,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery and an 8-year / 150,000km warranty for the drive unit.

2025 BYD Atto 3 Ultra vs 2024 BYD Atto 3 – what are the differences?

In general, the Atto 3 Ultra is almost identical to the 2024 Atto 3 with enhanced specs that were launched last September. The only differences between them are:

  • New wheel design
  • Digital key support
  • Ventilated front seats
  • All-black interior with yellow stitching

In terms of performance, there are no changes done to the Atto 3 Ultra. It still features a front-mounted 150kW (201hp) electric motor that also produces 310Nm of torque.

Powered by a 60.48kWh BYD Blade battery, the WLTP-rated range of Atto 3 Ultra is still identical to its predecessor at 420km. The same goes for its charging capability as BYD decided to retain the 7kW single-phase AC onboard charger alongside the support for DC charging speed of up to 80kW.

Is Proton e.MAS 7 the reason behind BYD Atto 3 Ultra?

Proton e.MAS 7 - SoyaCincau

BYD Atto 3 has been the most popular EV in Malaysia for two consecutive years but its position has since been challenged by Proton e.MAS 7. So, we don’t think it is a coincidence that BYD Sime Motors priced the Atto 3 Ultra at RM123,800 which is identical to e.MAS 7 Premium.

The first 1,000 customers of Atto 3 Ultra are able to purchase the EV at RM118,800 though given the RM5,000 rebate that BYD Sime Motors is offering to early bird customers. This undercuts the e.MAS 7 Premium by RM1,000 as Proton e.MAS 7 launch rebate was slightly lower at RM4,000.

Not enough with that, there is also the free 8-year service package which is something that Proton did not offer to e.MAS 7 customers. It is clear that BYD Sime Motors is trying hard to entice customers to pick up the Atto 3 Ultra over its close rival, so let’s see whether it will have an impact on the e.MAS 7.
