After months of anticipation, Google has finally taken the drape off the Pixel 9a. The new device joined the existing lineup of Pixel 9 Series smartphones which also includes the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Out of these four devices, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL have already been available in Malaysia since last year together with Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Watch 3. With today’s unveiling, Google has also confirmed that the Pixel 9a will be making its way to Malaysia very soon.
Google Pixel 9a Malaysia pricing, availability, colourways
Price-wise, the Pixel 9a will be released in Malaysia with a price tag of RM2,699 for the 128GB. There is also another variant with 256GB internal storage but Google will only announce the pricing for Malaysia at a later date.
At the same time, the company also did not reveal the actual release date for the Pixel 9a for Malaysia. Nevertheless, we were told that consumers in Malaysia can expect the Pixel 9a to be available in our market via Google Store and retail partners sometime this April.
The Pixel 9a is available in Iris, Peony, Porcelain, and Obsidian colourways. In Malaysia, the device comes standard with a 1-year warranty.
Google Pixel 9a Malaysia quick specs
The Pixel 9a is essentially the entry point for the Pixel 9 Series smartphones. Despite that, the device is still equipped with the Tensor G4 processor which is also used for its high-end siblings.
However, it only comes with 8GB of RAM. As mentioned earlier, the Pixel 9a is available with two internal storage configurations including 128GB and 256GB although it is not yet known which version will be released over here.
One of Pixel 9a’s highlights is a brand-new exterior design with a flat profile and rounded edges. Google also claimed that the 6.3-inch Actua display on the Pixel 9a is the brightest display on an A-series class at 2700 nits which is 35% brighter than the Pixel 8a.
At the same time, the pOLED display also has a native resolution of 2424 x 1080 alongside dynamic refresh rate capability which can go as high as 120Hz. To guarantee its durability, the display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while the Pixel 9a itself is designed to meet the IP68 standard.
For photography, the Pixel 9a relies on a 48MP f/1.7 main camera which also has Super Res Zoom capability of up to 8x together with both optical and electronic image stabilisation. Next to it is a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera while there is also another 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide for selfies on the front.
Powered by a 5100mAh battery, Google claimed that the Pixel 9a can last for over 30 hours on a single charger. The battery life can be extended up to 100 hours through the Extreme Battery Saver mode.
