Huawei, known for making various foldable devices like the tri-fold Mate XT, has just launched a new kind of foldable that’s different from your usual fold or flip. Called the Huawei Pura X, this is a wide flip phone that unfolds into a 16:10 “mini tablet” and it comes with a quad-camera setup.
Huawei Pura X Specs and Features
The Huawei Pura X gets a 3.5″ 1:1 cover OLED display that supports 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate with a 980×980 pixels resolution. Meanwhile, the internal 16:10 display is a flexible 6.3″ OLED planel that also supports 1-120HZ adaptive refresh rate with a higher 2120×1320 pixels resolution. Both screens have maximum brightness of up to 2500 nits and has 1440Hz PWM dimming.
When folded, the Pura X measures 15.1mm thick and is 7.15mm thick when unfolded. It weighs 193.7g for the leather version and 1195.9g for the version with the glass back. For greater durability, the foldable device comes with IPX8 water resistance rating that’s said to be able to withstand up to 2 metres of water submersion.
As usual, Huawei doesn’t disclose the processor for the device but it can be configured with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage for the “collector’s edition”.
In the camera department, the cover features a quad-camera array that consists of a 50MP f/1.6 main camera with OIS and RYYB sensor, a 40MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle macro shooter and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with OIS and it does 3.5x optical zoom. Meanwhile, the 4th “camera” is a dedicated colour sensor. In addition, the Pura X also gets a 10.7MP f/2.2 selfie camera that sits in a punch hole on the internal display.
In terms of connectivity, this foldable device supports 802.11be WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. The “Collector’s Edition” with the special colour schemes comes with support for satellite communications.
Powering the Pura X is a 4,720mAh battery that supports 66W fast wired charging and 40W fast wireless charging. Out of the box, it runs on Harmony OS 5.0.1 and Huawei has added AI-integration including DeepSeek and Huawei’s Pangu large model.
