TNB Electron has been fairly active for the past few days as we approach this year’s Raya holiday. Aside from turning on the Paka R&R Westbound in Terengganu, the CPO is also offering discounts on EV charging fees to benefit EV owners throughout this Raya.
The exact discounts you can enjoy depend on the location that you visit as well as the payment method that you use. The CPO currently has 16 public EV charging locations throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
10% discount for TNB Electron sites with Go To-U app
The majority of TNB Electron locations can be accessed using the Go To-U mobile app. TNBX has since applied a 10% discount on the charging fee for all these locations.
In other words, the pricing that is currently listed in the app is already 10% lower than the standard pricing. As an example, let’s take the newly deployed Paka R&R Westbound, which normally has a charging fee of RM1.50 per kWh.

However, the app currently lists the charging fee as RM1.35 per kWh instead. Do take note that this promo will last until 6 April 2025.
Paka R&R Eastbound switches to kWh-based pricing

On a related note, TNBX has switched the pricing scheme for TNB Electron Paka R&R Northbound from time-based to kWh-based. It has been a long time coming for the site, which was one of the first TNB Electron EV charging locations when it went online in January 2023.
After a free trial period, TNBX began to impose RM2.20 per minute as the charging fee in March of the same year. The fee remained unchanged for the past 2 years, even though it was criticized by many EV owners as one of the country’s most expensive EV chargers.

That finally changed this week as TNBX has set the charging fee for the TNB Electron Paka R&R Northbound as RM1.50 per kWh. Due to the ongoing Raya promo, you can utilise the charger for even cheaper at RM1.35 per kWh until 6 April.
22% discount for TNB Electron sites with card payment terminal

At the moment, several TNB Electron locations have been equipped with card payment terminals, including Juru Setia Sentral and Tapah R&R Northbound. Powered by JuiceUp, the terminal has also been installed for one of the DC chargers at Aeon Mall Bukit Mertajam.
What is really interesting is that you can only use a credit or debit card to pay for the charging fee at these TNB Electron chargers. In other words, you are not able to activate them using the Go To-U app as per usual.

This does not mean TNBX is moving away from the app, as the company said that it is already working to integrate both payment options. On the other hand, EV owner with CIMB and Visa cards can now enjoy discounts when they charge their vehicles at these card-enabled TNB Electron locations.
The actual discounts depend on the card you use to make the payment:
- CIMB Card: 10% discount, up to RM8 off per session
- Visa Card: 12% discount, up to RM8 off per session
- CIMB Visa Card: 22% discount, up to RM16 off per session
Take note that your charging fee has to be at least RM30 in order to unlock these discounts. This promo is not limited to this Raya season though as it will last until 23 January 2026.
