Maxis Home Solar is expanding to cover Peninsular Malaysia and it allows more landed home owners to enjoy solar with a low upfront cost of RM1,000.
After deploying solar at over 400 homes in the Klang Valley since late 2024, the subscription-based solar solution will be expanded across Peninsular Malaysia starting in May 2025. By end of 2025, Maxis Home Solar will be made available to both Maxis and non-Maxis subscribers.
Maxis Home Solar provides instant savings on electricity bills with 10-year contract
According to Maxis, its Home Solar offering aims to provide a complete, worry-free experience to homeowners, allowing them to subscribe to a solar energy system with low upfront payment of RM1,000. With a 10-year contract, the monthly home solar subscription covers solar panels, inverters, installation, maintenance and proactive monitoring.
On top of that, subscribers will enjoy 24/7 customer service from Maxis while the solar systems are backed by a comprehensive warranty and solar insurance for peace of mind.
Your monthly home solar subscription varies depending on the size of your required solar system. Whichever plan you pick, users can enjoy immediate savings of up to 25% on their electricity bills after deducting TNB and Maxis bills.

In the example provided during the launch, a small 7.3kWp solar system costs RM310/month while the 9.3kWp system costs RM390/month. Assuming that a small home spends about RM500-RM600 worth of electricity per month, they can enjoy an estimated monthly savings of RM110 – RM140 after deducting TNB and Maxis bill costs.
On a bigger example for a large home that spends more than RM1,000 in TNB bills, a 17.4kWp solar system will cost RM720/month and users can enjoy an estimated monthly savings of RM280 after deducting TNB and Maxis bills.

Maxis is also offering Microinverter solution as a Premium add-on which costs an additional RM30/month. Unlike String Inverters that are installed on the ground floor level, microinverters are installed close to the solar panels themselves.
Microinverters are said to offer improved performance, enhanced reliability and also ease of scalability if you wish to deploy more solar panels in the future.
Home Solar compliments Maxis’ Converged Home offering

Since Maxis has established itself as a prominent home broadband player, getting into solar energy seems to be a progressive next step. Besides offering fibre to the home, smartphones and home appliances on subscription, it is easier for Maxis to put solar on roofs as they can leverage its existing customer base of 10.4 million subscribers and 780,000 homes.
Maxis Green Solutions Sdn Bhd Director Patrick Er said, “We are excited to enable more households in Malaysia to access solar energy through this worry-free subscription service. Our aim is to bring green energy adoption into the mainstream, backed by our proven experience in service, sales and customer satisfaction spanning 30 years in the subscription business.”

Besides making it easier for more homes to adopt solar, Maxis wants to differentiate its experience through after its sales service. To ensure optimal solar system performance and maximum energy savings, Maxis says they offer proactive monitoring and troubleshooting backed by 24/7 customer support team with over 500 Maxperts nationwide.
If your solar system is underperforming, their customer support team will diagnose the issue remotely and would arrange a technical team to your home for inspection, repairs or hardware replacement, if required. For greater peace of mind, the home solar system is covered by a 10-year comprehensive protection with insurance coverage and warranty management throughout the contract period.
The Maxis Home Solar system is yours to keep after the 10-year contract is over and you can continue to enjoy electricity bills savings from the system. For customers who require continued customer service support, Maxis says they will introduce a maintenance plan for out of contract customers but the details will be shared at a later time.

If you’re interested in Maxis Home Solar, you’ll have to fill up an registration of interest form on their website. A Maxis Home Solar consultant will contact you for further details about your home and current energy consumption, and they will provide a proposal for your home solar system.
The Maxis Home Solar team will also assist with the Net Energy Metering (NEM) application. With NEM, homeowners can export their solar system’s excess energy to the TNB grid which will then reduce your overall monthly electricity bill.
