Nubia’s gaming sub-brand, RedMagic, has just dropped its new “budget” gaming smartphone, the RedMagic 10 Air, here in Malaysia. With not many direct competitors in the market, the 10 Air is here for one obvious mission, which is to battle the Asus ROG Phone 9 FE.
It rocks a RM3,199 starting price, but if you’re looking to get one, we would suggest you to wait, as a first sale promotion for the RedMagic 10 Air is coming, which will slash its price tag by up to RM800, with a free gift thrown in as well.

RedMagic 10 Air Malaysia: Specs and features

Featuring a rectangular shape like its more pricey siblings, the RedMagic 10 Air features glass panels on its front and back with a 2.5D straight edge with slight curves at the edges, along with an aluminium medium frame.
RedMagic says the glass on the 10 Air is anti-glare and is also resistant to fingerprints, making sure your phone will still stay clean despite using it without a case. Like its rival, the ROG Phone 9 FE, the RedMagic 10 Air also comes with its own unique design element — the customisable RGB lighting that interacts with gaming, notifications, calls, system alerts, and charging.

It’s also got a new button called the Magic Key, which is a customisable side-mounted control that can be configured to launch frequently used features. This includes Game Space, camera, translation, or sound profile switching. Being a gaming phone, the 10 Air is equipped with shoulder trigger buttons that boast a touch response rate of 520Hz.
The RedMagic 10 Air is also equipped with a pair of what the brand describes as “flagship-grade” speakers. These are said to deliver DTS:X Ultra-certified sound, tuned with Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound, and an 0815 super linear motor for 4D vibration feedback.

At the front, the RedMagic 10 Air features a 6.8″ 2K (2480×1116) AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. RedMagic also added that the touchscreen has a 2000Hz touch sampling rate, along with 960Hz continuous tracking for a responsive performance.
Under the hood of the RedMagic 10 Air is Qualcomm’s flagship smartphone chipset from one generation before — the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Accompanying this chipset are the RedCore R3 co-processors, which are designed to handle auxiliary gaming functions such as haptic feedback, audio processing, and RGB lighting control. This allows the primary chipset to operate more efficiently under sustained load.
To keep the phone cool even during heavy tasks, RedMagic has also fitted the 10 Air with a 9-layer ICE Cooling System. According to the company, this system includes liquid metal, which is typically found in gaming laptops.

With that, RedMagic claims that this approach surpasses the thermal efficiency of traditional liquid metals, therefore offering a performance enhancement up to 13 times greater than conventional solutions.
In the imaging department, you get a dual 50MP setup at the back. This specifically consists of the main 50MP f/1.9 camera with a 1/1.55″ OV50E sensor and OIS, along with a 50MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle shooter, which RedMagic says has been designed with a distortion correction algorithm to keep wide shots looking accurate and clean without distortion at the edges.

Keeping lights on is a 6,000mAh battery that is said to provide up to 28 hours of usage on a single charge. Speaking of charging, it can be done at 80W via a USB-C cable.
Software-wise, the RedMagic 10 Air runs on RedMagic OS 10.0, built atop Android 15, bringing a series of new features. This includes Game Space, which offers quick access to games, gameplay recording, and powerful tools such as Somatosensory Control, Screen Extraction, and Auxiliary Line.

Additionally, there are also features like Quick Picture Library, Quick Notes, and View Board, which store up to 50 editable images and notes, helping gamers stay organised, along with Frame Interpolation that boosts video playback up to 120Hz.
RedMagic OS 10.0 also allows players can enjoy AAA mobile titles in handheld mode with a controller, or switch to Host Mode to play with “PC-level precision”. On the other hand, Z-Smart Cast supports low-latency screen casting up to 120 FPS, allowing users to share gameplay or content with zero delay. This feature will be renamed to Smart Cast in a subsequent system update. Last but not least, RedMagic OS 10.0 packs a refreshed UI for quicker access and a cleaner layout.
