This post is brought to you by OPPO.
The midrange smartphone segment is competitive with smartphone manufacturers trying to squeeze in more advanced and premium features while keeping the price in check. OPPO has a new contender in this segment with the Reno11 F 5G, the latest edition of the Reno11 Series. So what does it offer to make it stand out in this crowded space?
Here are 4 things you can expect from the ocean inspired OPPO Reno11 F 5G.
Eye-catching design inspired by the ocean
More often than not, the first thing that catches the attention of most people is the design of the smartphone. As such, OPPO took inspiration from nature when crafting the looks of the Reno11 F 5G. There are three colours to choose from, with each taking inspiration from an element of nature.
Ocean Blue, which is also the brand colour of this model, takes inspiration from the rippling waves of the ocean. It features OPPO’s magnetic particle design, giving the waves a shimmering effect when shifted under the light. Even the aluminium frame is painted blue to match the aesthetics of the ocean theme. All these add up to provide a calming sensation.
The same effect is used for the Coral Purple colour but this time, the ripples use a light-catching glitter instead. Finally, there’s Palm Green which resembles layers of emerald forming deep green tones with subtle sparkles.
To protect it from the elements of nature, the Reno11 F 5G comes with an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance. This means that you can continue using the 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display in the rain.
Three cameras for three shooting modes
Many midrange smartphones offer a triple-camera system, but what separates the Reno11 F 5G from the competition is OPPO’s image processing. On the rear, there’s a 64MP primary camera which allows you to capture more detailed photos. It is then enhanced using OPPO’s image-processing algorithms to boost clarity, colour, and sharpness.
Being a Reno series smartphone, the Reno11 F 5G was developed to capture portrait photography. OPPO’s Portrait Expert Engine analyses the scene and identifies the subject and background. It then applies a soft focus to the background, putting the spotlight on the subject.
Speaking about the subject, the algorithm applies skin tone protection and feature enhancement to further highlight the subject. If you want to get closer to your subject, the 64MP resolution has enough headroom for a 2x digital zoom with minimal loss of quality.
Besides that, the Reno11 F 5G also features an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro camera to give you different shooting modes. To capture more of the scene in a single shot, switch to the ultra-wide-angle lens and for capturing small subjects up close, choose the macro camera.
In addition, videos can be recorded up to 4K resolution at 30fps which produces higher quality footage when compared to shooting at Full HD or 1080P.
You’ll be able to capture photos and record videos for longer thanks to the large 5,000mAh battery. When the battery runs low, the 67W SUPERVOOC fast-charging can take the battery from 0% to 62% in about 20 minutes while a full charge is achieved in 48 minutes. OPPO has also engineered and tested the battery to retain more than 80% health after 4 years of charge cycles.
Cool software tricks thanks to ColorOS 14
Good software is arguably the most crucial part of the smartphone experience and OPPO has had years to refine its mobile operating system, ColorOS. The latest iteration, ColorOS 14 brings some cool features to the Reno11 F 5G that’s not common in the midrange smartphone segment.
Smart Image Matting, for example, allows you to quickly cut out up to six subjects in a photo that you can turn into stickers or share with other apps. Just tap and hold on a subject in the photo and the software will analyse the scene to detect the subjects. Once done, you can pick and choose the ones you want.
Another feature called Smart Suggestion under OPPO’s Aqua Dynamics function will let you display notifications from ride-hailing and food delivery apps with real-time updates on the lock screen, notification drawer, status bar and when the screen is off. So if you’re using Grab, you’ll be notified about vehicle details, estimated pick-up time, estimated arrival time, and estimated journey time without opening the app and interrupting your current task.
On the 10th April 2024, the OPPO Reno11 F will receive a software update for the OPPO AI Eraser function. Stay tuned for more updates from OPPO Malaysia.
To ensure the Reno11 F 5G continues to deliver the best possible performance down the line, OPPO has conducted a 48-month fluency test on the software and hardware.
Stronger network connection
OPPO knows how important it is for you to stay connected with your digital life. Therefore, the Reno11 F 5G features LinkBoost, a combination of a 360-degree antenna design and AI network selection to offer the most stable signal possible. In their tests, LinkBoost achieved 100% higher signal transmission and 58.5% stronger reception compared to the industry standard in this segment.
Besides that, it also works to reconnect to a network by up to 87% faster than the average rate when the signal connection is lost when leaving an elevator or underground car park.
