Shortly after releasing the Nothing Phone (2a) last month, the brand known for its semi-transparent design, announced that it will be introducing not one but two new audio products next week which will be called the Nothing Ear and Ear (a). For the naming convention, Nothing is dropping its running number for the new earbuds which are expected to succeed the Nothing Ear (2) and the Nothing Ear (Stick).
The Nothing Ear and Ear (a) are set to launch on 18 April 2024. According to Nothing, 2024 is the year they will be unveiling the ultimate iteration of Nothing Audio with two new products that reflect the culmination of three years of design and innovation. They added that what they envisioned from the start is premium for everyone that isn’t about market price but user preference.
Nothing also said, “So with this significant milestone, we’ve reset our naming strategy, stripping back the numbers to center the focus around the product and the unique experience it delivers for each user. True to Nothing.”
In a teaser video which showed several Community members reacting to the new Ear and Ear (a), the new products offer a new premium design and boast improved active noise cancellation. One commented it looked and sounded like a product that would cost over GBP 200 (over RM1,200).
The Nothing Ear is expected to be their new flagship audio offering, while the Ear (a) is likely to be their “affordable” option similar to the Nothing Phone (2a).

With the improvements, we might see an increase in pricing, especially with the current fluctuating currency exchange rates. As a reference, their current flagship earbuds the Nothing Ear (2) was launched in March 2023 with a retail price tag of RM599. Meanwhile, the slightly cheaper Ear (stick) without active noise cancellation was launched in October 2022 for RM469.
