XPark Sunway Serene Charging Hub upgraded with 7 DC Chargers

Gentari and JomCharge’s EV Charging Hub at XPark Sunway Serene has recently gotten an upgrade with an additional 3 DC charge points. This is one of the largest EV charging hubs in the Kelana Jaya area and it is home to the first 350kW DC charger in Southeast Asia.

The XPark Sunway Serene EV charging Hub was launched in late 2022 with a total of four DC Charge points and five AC charge points. The charging hub consists of two ABB 360kW DC Chargers, a single ABB 180kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles, two 22kW AC charge points and three 7kW AC charge points.

With the recent upgrade, the three 7kW AC charge points have been removed and are replaced with a 24kW ABB DC charger with a single CCS2 nozzle and a 150kW Kempower DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles. This brings the total DC charge points to 7 for this location.

However, take note that the 350kW DC Chargers have recently been capped to deliver a lower output of 175kW. This means 800V-based EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kia EV6, Audi e-Tron and the Porsche Taycan won’t be able to achieve their peak charging rates above 200kW.

Meanwhile, the 180kW (Charger 3) and 150kW (Charger 7) chargers with two nozzles are not configured for dynamic power sharing. Even if you’re the only EV plugged in, you can only get a maximum of 90kW and 75kW per nozzle respectively.

XPark Sunway Serene EV Charger Pricing

  • Charger 3 – 2 nozzles (90kW DC) – RM1.50 per kWh
  • Charger 4 (22kW AC) – RM0.90 per kWh
  • Charger 5 (22kW AC) – RM0.90 per kWh
  • Charger 6 (24kW DC) – RM1.30 per kWh

You can activate and pay for these chargers using the Gentari Go, Setel, JomCharge and ChargEV apps.

XPark Sunway Serene supports AutoCharge feature

If you have an Omoda E5 EV, JomCharge has also enabled AutoCharge for selected DC chargers (Charger 1, 2 and 3) at XPark Sunway Serene. AutoCharge is essentially Plug and Charge, which allows EV owners to activate the charger without using any apps or payment cards. You’ll need to enrol your Omoda E5 with JomCharge’s AutoCharge platform before you can start using the feature. To charge, just connect the nozzle to the vehicle and it will authorise the charging session immediately.

The AutoCharge feature provides a very seamless charging experience similar to charging a Tesla at a Supercharger location. The EV charging session will be billed automatically to your JomCharge account which is linked to your saved payment card.
