Brief Introduction

Aishwaryam Prajapati, a 25-year-old girl from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has secured All India Rank 10 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her second attempt. She did her schooling in Lucknow only, and then she did her graduation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from NIT Uttarakhand.

After that, for one and half years she worked at Larsen & Toubro. Then, in 2021 she resigned from the job and started preparing for this exam. Her father, Ram Kamal Prasad is an assistant professor at ICCMRT and her mother, Urmila Prajapati is a housewife.

Motivation and Strategy

From the beginning, it was always in her mind that she wanted to go for Civil Services because her father always motivated her for it and he always used to show her interviews of UPSC toppers. It all inspired and motivated her to go for this examination and also her source of motivation was her family. 

For Prelims, in her first attempt, she made the mistake of not giving proper time to it. This time, she corrected her mistake and gave the required time for it consistently. Apart from that, she also gave fewer mock tests on her first attempt, which she corrected in this attempt, which helped her a lot to qualify for the Prelims. She made notes of the mistakes in the mock tests. For CSAT, she focused on strengthening one part, either math, reasoning, or English, to get passing marks in it.

For Mains, she referred to the syllabus given on the commission’s website and made her notes in accordance with the given syllabus and also used the articles of coaching institutes which were matched with the syllabus. For some subjects, she relied on current affairs completely, like International Relations, Security, Defence, etc. Then, she started her answer writing practice, gave importance to the test series, and gave emphasis on writing examples in the answers.

She also emphasized the previous year’s questions, which helped her a lot in her preparation. She also made short and crisp notes before the examination to revise easily. For the Interview, she stressed DAF, understanding your personality a little more, and starting a hobby. She also advised staying in touch with current affairs before the interview. Finally, she studied late at night during her preparation. 

For the booklist, she referred to standard books for all subjects, like Laxmikanth for Politics and Shankar IAS book for Environment, etc. She also referred to NCERT books for the basics. She also referred to online lectures for some subjects, like economics. She also referred to the current affairs magazine of any coaching along with the newspaper. Her optional subject was Sociology

Hobbies

Aishwaryam likes to sing and do gardening.

She emphasized static and current affairs equally for Prelims, and practice is really important for it. She also gave importance to mental preparation and analytical thinking at the time of examination to keep the mind stable.
