Asus has announced a new refreshed model of their flagship ROG Zephyrus G16 gaming laptop, with the powerful machine now coming with AMD’s new mobile processor under the hood for extra performance both in game and for AI workloads. This latest AMD version joins their previous Intel Meteor Lake-based ROG Zephyrus G16 that they had launched earlier this year.
The key highlight of this new model is of course that it uses AMD’s latest Strix Point mobile processors along with their confusing new naming scheme. Specifically, the new ROG Zephyrus G16 has an AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 processor packing 12-cores, 24-threads and a Ryzen AI XDNA 2 NPU capable of 50 TOPS of performance. While it does have an integrated Radeon 890M GPU, chances are though that you’ll be predominantly using the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card too for both heavy AI workloads and triple-A gaming. You’ll also find up to 32GB of LPDDR5X-7500MHz memory and up to a pair of 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs coming along for the ride.
Elsewhere though, this is pretty much the same ROG Zephyrus G16 that you know and love, with its large 16-inch ROG Nebula OLED display in a 16:10 aspect ratio, pushing a 2560 x 1600p resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate too. The panel is also capable of 500nits of brightness, covers the full DCI-P3 colour gamut and has support for NVIDIA G-SYNC, Dolby Vision HDR and has been Pantone validated too. And when you’re not using the laptop, you’ll find the striking ‘Slash Lighting’ bar that lights up across the lid diagonally.
Other features of note include a 90Wh battery, stereo speakers and an RGB backlit keyboard. It’s also the first ever ROG laptop to support WiFi 7, with Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity for good measure too. Lastly, for I/O you’ll find a USB 4 port, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, two more USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a HDMI 2.1 port, an SD card reader slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Unfortunately for those of you looking for an AMD-flavoured Zephyrus G16, Asus has so far not yet revealed any pricing nor availability details just yet for this new Zephyrus G16. That being said, there’s a good chance it would be priced somewhat similarly to the one with an Intel Core Ultra 185H and an RTX 4070 that launched previously in Malaysia for RM11,999.
