Ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha holiday, Gentari has turned on more DC chargers along the Negeri Sembilan portion of the North-South Expressway. This includes the long-awaited Petronas Seremban Northbound charger which was installed almost a year ago.

Gentari has also deployed a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)-assisted DC chargers at Senawang Southbound Lay-by.

With the latest deployments, you can now find Gentari DC chargers in both directions of the Seremban R&R and Senawang Layby along the PLUS highway. These additional DC fast chargers can help build range confidence for EV owners as they provide the convenience of quick battery top-ups while travelling between Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.

Following the commissioning of the Petronas Seremban R&R Southbound DC charger two weeks ago, Gentari enabled its DC charger for its Northbound R&R location. The DC chargers on both Petronas R&R Northbound and Southbound are equipped with a 180kW unit with two CCS2 nozzles.

These 180kW DC chargers are priced at RM1.50 per kWh and it only costs RM0.75 per kWh if you have an annual Gentari membership. The DC chargers can be activated via Gentari Go, JomCharge and ChargEV apps.

For EV drivers who need to charge further down south, Gentari has deployed its BESS-assisted DC charging solution at the Senawang Lay-by for both Northbound and Southbound directions. These DC chargers can push up to a maximum of 150kW and there are two Kempower DC units with two CCS2 nozzles each. So that’s a total of 4 DC charge points at each Lay-by location.

However, these chargers are slightly pricier at RM1.60 per kWh, or RM0.80 per kWh if you have a Gentari membership. These chargers can be activated via Gentari Go, JomCharge and ChargEV apps.

Since this is a BESS unit, the maximum power output is dependent on the state of charge of the battery storage unit. According to the notes in the JomCharge app, these charger can deliver up to 150kW when one charger is in use or up to 100kW when both two chargers are running.

When the charger and battery pack are idling, the charger will only display 5kW. But the actual power output will ramp up when the charging starts. If the battery storage level falls below the reserve threshold, the charger will be disabled.

If you’re travelling southbound from Taiping on WCE, there’s now a 400kW Kempower DC charger deployed by DC Handal at Taiping South Toll Plaza.
