Besides the CMF Phone 1, the Nothing sub-brand has also launched the CMF Buds Pro 2. While the new wireless earbuds look very similar to its previous entry-level CMF Buds, the new Buds Pro 2 boasts superior sound quality with a Spatial Audio Effect. In addition, the rotating dial on the case is not just decorative. You can finally control your music and calls from the case itself.
CMF Buds Pro 2 Malaysia Price and Availability
The CMF Buds Pro 2 is officially priced at RM339 in Malaysia. That’s RM100 more than the first-generation Buds Pro and RM140 more than the entry-level Buds.
The CMF Buds Pro 2 will officially be available nationwide on 15th July 2024. However, you can pre-order now from the official store on Lazada and Shopee. At the moment, it is offered in Dark Grey, Light Grey and Orange.
CMF Buds Pro 2 Malaysia Specs and Features
In less than a year, CMF has launched a total of three wireless earbuds and one neckband headphones which are mostly priced around the RM200 mark. This time, the sub-brand wants to deliver the best-in-class audio experience while maintaining an accessible price tag with the new Buds Pro 2.
For starters, the CMF Buds Pro 2 features a dual driver design consisting of an 11mm bass driver and a 6mm tweeter. The newly upgraded earbuds boast 2x the audio frequency response range of 20-40000Hz (Buds Pro: 20-20000Hz) which on paper, should deliver greater clarity and precision. It also boasts LDAC support with Hi-Res Audio Wireless and Dirac Optea certification along with a high transmission rate of up to 990kbps. It even offers spatial audio effects based on the head-related transfer function.
On the original CMF Buds, the knob element on the case is merely a lanyard holder, but on the Buds Pro 2, it is now a functional control dial. According to Nothing, this is the industry’s first customisable Smart Dial which allows you to adjust volume and music playback with a simple twist. Configurable from the Nothing X app, you can set customisable controls such as volume, noise cancellation modes, play/pause, skip back/forward, voice assistant or to turn low lag mode on/off.
If you don’t fancy using the case, you can still use tap gestures on the earbuds to toggle ANC and transparency mode, as well as to manage your music playback.
To cut out unwanted background noise, the Buds Pro 2 also boasts Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) of up to 50db and it offers a higher frequency range of up to 5000Hz. It also features a Smart ANC feature which can automatically detect and compensate for any noise leakage between the earbud and your ear canal, to ensure an optimal noise cancellation.
If you rely on your earbuds to make voice calls, the CMF Buds Pro 2 has a total of 6 built-in HD mics to ensure greater voice clarity. In addition, the buds also have a wind noise reduction feature to minimise direct wind contact which ultimately reduces wind noise while taking a call outdoors.
The wireless earbuds are managed via the Nothing X app and you can use the app to manage the equaliser, active noise cancellation or toggle the Ultra Bass settings to enhance low-frequency sounds.
The CMF Buds Pro 2 boasts a total of 43 hours of music playback with the case included. For the buds themselves, it supports up to 6.5 hours of music playback with ANC on or up to 11 hours with ANC turned off.
The case only supports USB-C charging and it takes 70 minutes to charge both the case and earbuds to 100%. Meanwhile, the earbuds take 60 minutes for a full charge inside the case. If you’re in a hurry, a quick 10-minute charge can provide up to 7 hours of music playback with ANC turned off.
The CMF Buds Pro supports Bluetooth 5.3 and it is compatible with both Android (5.1 and above) and iOS (13 and above) devices. For instant pairing, it supports both Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair.
