To increase the durability of the A3 Pro 5G, OPPO developed a new reinforcement process called 360° Damage-Proof Armour Body that improves protection against drops and punctures.
Impact damage from drops is reduced by dampening the shock and dissipating the energy with cushioning materials. As for increased resistance against punctures, OPPO used a more durable glass for the screen called Panda Glass. It is two times harder than regular glass used for smartphones.
There’s even a durable, shock-absorbing Anti-Drop Shield Case included in the box which offers better protection than most cases you get with other smartphones in this class. It offers additional protection by using cushions at the corners and a vertically reinforced back shell, all while having a sense of style.
OPPO says it used an 11-ton, 48-seat bus to run over the A3 Pro 5G and the phone remained functional. With a showing like that, OPPO managed to get an SGS Drop-Resistance Certification (Standard) and SGS Military Standard Certification for the A3 Pro 5G.
Since we don’t have such a vehicle on hand to run over the phone, OPPO suggested some alternative methods. The first is by dropping a dumbbell onto the phone and the second is dropping the phone onto a tiled floor from 6.6 meters high.
Splash Touch
Have you ever noticed that when a phone’s screen is wet, it registers false inputs? It’s like the phone is controlling itself. But in fact, the water droplets are mimicking the properties of your fingers, which is causing the false touches. This makes using the phone difficult when there’s water like under the rain or with wet fingers.
One solution OPPO has implanted on the A3 Pro 5G is Splash Touch. By using an algorithm, Splash Touch is able to differentiate the inputs by fingers from inputs by water, allowing you to continue using your phone even when the screen is wet.
Why would you get your phone screen wet? Well, as part of its durability design, the A3 Pro 5G is rated IP54 for dust and splash resistance. So you don’t have to hide your phone away when it starts drizzling.
A unique design
Typically, a smartphone designed with durability at its core will look rugged and industrial. However, that’s not the case with the A3 Pro 5G. OPPO has managed to still keep the aesthetics of a regular smartphone that follows its modern design language.
Measuring just 7.68mm thick and weighing about 186g, the A3 pro 5G features a metal-like glossy frame and a rectangular camera island on the back cover, just like the new Reno12 Series.
Crafted with the unique Magnetic Particle Design, Moonlight Purple features a silhouette of a crescent moon enshrouded in a deep purple hue. For a more classic look, Starry Black uses a matte texture that’s designed to keep fingerprints and scratches at bay with the OPPO Glow process.
Performance for entertainment
An ideal entertainment experience starts with the display and the A3 Pro 5G has the right combination of features with OPPO’s Ultra Bright Display. The 6.67-inch screen offers one of the clearest and smoothest viewing experiences in this price range with up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
Computing performance comes from a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G processor which OPPO says delivers more power and 5G capabilities with lower power consumption. For smoother multitasking, it comes with 8GB of RAM with up to 8GB RAM expansion and 256GB storage means you have plenty of room for apps, media, photos, and videos.
