Realme C61 Malaysia: “iPhone-like” design, drop-proof, RM499

Realme has just launched its latest C-series smartphone, the Realme C61, in Malaysia. Said to be one of the slimmest smartphones in its class, the Realme C61 comes with a 730-day warranty (essentially 2 years) and is claimed to be drop-proof. More on that later.

Realme C61 Malaysia price

The Realme C61 is offered in Malaysia with one configuration only and its official pricing is as follows:

  • Realme C61 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM499

Two colour options are available with the Realme C61, namely Sparkle Gold or Dark Green. It is available for purchase at Realme’s Brand Stores, authorised dealer stores, as well as official Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Stores.

Realme C61 Malaysia specs and features

Said to sport an “iPhone-like” design, the Realme C61 measures just 7.84mm thick, making it one of the thinnest smartphones in its class. It sports a glass front, a plastic frame, and a plastic back, and can be had in either Sparkle Gold or Dark Green, just as mentioned above.

At the front of the Realme C61 is a 6.74” HD+ IPS LCD display (with 1600×720 resolution) with a 90Hz refresh rate. Powering the smartphone is a Unisoc Tiger T612 Octa-core processor.

Realme claims the C61 to feature a flagship-like experience and is giving the smartphone a 48-month Fluency Guarantee. What does this mean you ask? Here’s an explanation given by Realme on its website:

“Through the optimization of software, hardware and other comprehensive technologies, C61 has passed the 48-month fluency testing in Realme Lab. It does not mean that there is absolutely no lag. Due to factors such as network environment and personal usage, the actual experience may be different. Please refer to the actual experience.”

Working together with the processor is 6GB of RAM, which when needed can be expanded to 18GB of “Dynamic” virtual RAM, thanks to Realme’s DRE (Dynamic RAM Expansion) technology. This is said to allow the C61 to deliver seamless app access and switching, with the device capable of supporting up to 18 applications running in the background. To store your images, videos, and apps, the Realme C61 comes with 128GB of storage.

As for its camera, the Realme C61 comes with a main 50MP AI shooter, as well as a 0.08MP auxiliary lens. The main camera can shoot videos at a resolution of up to 1080p at 30fps. There’s also a 5MP front camera which can film videos at 720p and 30fps.

Realme also built the C61 to be pretty tough. Described as “Hard to Break”, the smartphone is said to be built to withstand drops and harsh environments with eight major structural enhancements for reliable shock absorption, making it drop-resistant. The C61 is also IP54-rated, which protects it against dust and water splashes. One thing the Realme C61 has that most flagship smartphones don’t is a 3.5mm headphone jack. It sports a side-mounted fingerprint sensor too.

Thanks to a 5,000mAh battery, the Realme C61 is said to be able to last up to two days on a single charge. It also comes with a 4-year battery health guarantee, where Realme claims its battery to be able to retain over 80% of its maximum capacity even after 4 years of use. As for charging, the C61 supports a maximum wired fast charging rate of 15W.
