MyJPJ U-turns mandatory MyDigital ID login

Earlier this week, many MyJPJ users were shocked to see pop-up notices which said that the app is adopting MyDigital ID as its sole login method. Ministry of Transport (MOT) has since halted the move and users can continue to use the existing MyJPJ login credentials.

This was announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke in a press conference this evening. The decision to halt the implementation was made due to a huge amount of complaints from consumers.

According to the pop-up notices inside the app, users have until 10 October 2024 to obtain the MyDigital ID that they need to use to log into the MyJPJ app. These notices first appeared in the app through update v2.7 which was rolled out on 30 September.

Following the announcement today, these pop-up notices have since been removed from the app. As it turned out, the “mandatory” MyDigital ID login implementation was rolled out without proper discussion within the ministry which explains the lack of official announcement regarding it.

Anthony further pointed out that the integration between MyJPJ and MyDigital ID will involve their back-end system to make things easier for users. That being said, the integration is going to take some time though, as MyJPJ has more than 100 million users.
