Launched just shy of a month ago, the Apple Watch Series 10 has finally been made available here in Malaysia. Many might have expected the Apple Watch Series 10 to bring a major design change, however, that didn’t happen. Still, the Series 10 does bring some notable updates such as sleep apnea detection, larger displays, and the thinnest cases ever. More on those later.

Depending on the variant chosen, delivery for the Apple Watch Series 10 in Malaysia will begin on the 14th of October 2024. However, at the time of writing, customers can’t choose to pick up their new Apple Watch Series 10 from the Apple Store at The Exchange TRX just yet.
Also, you might have noticed that the Apple Watch Series 10, at least in its aluminium case form, is cheaper than the Series 9 by RM100. The Stainless Steel case option which has been offered since the very first Apple Watch is now no longer with the Series 10, and is replaced by the fancier and lighter Titanium case option instead.
Apple Watch Series 10 specs and features
Just in case you haven’t noticed, the Apple Watch Series 10’s case sizes have gained by 1mm across the range, as compared to its predecessor. This means Apple’s latest flagship smartwatch is now offered in 42mm and 46mm case sizes.
Although its design has fundamentally stayed the same, it’s now thinner than ever too, measuring just 9.7mm (1mm thinner than Series 9), making it the thinnest Apple Watch ever. Still, Apple says that the Series 10 is still able to last up to 18 hours under normal use, just like its predecessors have been claimed to do since the original Apple Watch. It also features the fastest charging speed ever on an Apple Watch and can be juiced up from flat to 80% in around 30 minutes.
Aside from a thinner body, Apple has also enlarged the displays of the Apple Watch Series 10. The smartwatch now offers up to 30% more screen area than the Series 4, Series 5, and Series 6, and up to 9% more than the Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is also the first product in Apple’s lineup to be fitted with a wide-angle OLED display, which is said to be 40% brighter than the Series 9 when viewed from an angle, making it easier to read. The display is now more power efficient too, allowing Apple to amp up the Series 10’s display refresh rate when in always-on mode, going from once a minute to once a second. With that, you can now see a ticking second hand without raising your wrist on select watch faces.
Powered by Apple’s latest S10 chip, the Apple Watch Series 10 runs on WatchOS 11 out of the box. It now comes with sleep apnea detection too, making it an even more useful health tracker.
Currently, the sleep apnea detection feature is still pending FDA approval in the US. Let’s hope this feature will make its way to Malaysia. Also, this feature won’t just be made exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, as the Apple Watch Series 9 should be getting it as well. One feature still missing from the Apple Watch though is blood pressure monitoring. Hopefully, it will come with the Apple Watch Series 11 next year.
