GoCar Experience lets you test drive an EV for up to one week

The majority of showroom test drives last less than an hour as they usually involve driving around the showroom’s vicinity with the sales advisor. However, GAC Aion Malaysia is taking a different approach by letting customers try out the GAC Aion Y Plus electric mini MPV for up to a week with the help of GoCar.

GoCar Experience is not your usual test drive session

First announced in August, the GoCar Experience is essentially an extended test drive program that lets you spend several days with the vehicle.  Aion Y Plus is the first model being offered by this program although the GoCar Experience is currently only available at Aion Petaling Jaya.

For those who are not familiar with GoCar, the company offers vehicle subscription services and app-based short-term rental as well as car service and repairs. GoCar provides a variety of vehicles through its subscription and rental services covering a variety of form factors from compact cars to pickup trucks.

The company also provides EV rentals under the GoEV branding with models such as Nissan Leaf (both Gen 2 pre-facelift and Gen 1), Ora Good Cat, and Renault Zoe FL. That being said, the GoCar Experience is a brand-new program that is currently being run separately from GoEV even though the arrangement may sound similar.

GoCar Experience x GAC Aion Y Plus starts at RM399

For Aion Y Plus, there are two options listed on the GoCar Experience website. They essentially determine the rental fee which would be refunded if you end up purchasing the EV.

If you are okay with just 3 days of test drive, then the fee would RM399. For the full 7 days of test drive, the fee would be RM899.

GoCar will provide you with a free EV charging credit worth RM20 if you opt for the 3-day test drive session. On the other hand, those who choose the full 7-day test drive will receive RM50 charging credit instead.

Officially launched in Malaysia back in May, the GAC Aion Y Plus is one of several mainstream EVs in Malaysia that can be obtained for under RM150k. Built with 150kW (201hp) that also delivers 225Nm of torque, this 5-seater mini MPV is powered by a 63.2kWh battery pack and can deliver a WLTP-rated range of up to 430km.
