DC Handal is expected to unveil what appears to be Malaysia’s largest EV charging hub soon and it is much bigger than its current hub at Johor Premium Outlets (JPO). Located next to the Mall of Medini near Legoland Malaysia, the new EV charging site is spotted with a whopping 28 satellite terminals.

DC Handal has installed 4x Kempower satellite terminals across 7 islands near Mall of Medini

At the time of writing, this DC Handal EV charging hub is still closed to the public but you can already see the Kempower DC chargers being switched on from a distance. For this location, a high roof structure has been erected with solar panels on top, and there are a total of 7 “petrol station”-style islands with 4 Kempower DC charging terminals each.

At the end of this island, there’s a kiosk equipped with a card terminal for users to activate and pay for their EV charging. DC Handal is the first charge point operator in Malaysia to accept credit and debit card payments, and it also works with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay. Alternatively, users can also activate the EV chargers via ChargEV and JomCharge apps.

From what we can observe, these DC chargers have a maximum power capacity of up to 240kW which are dynamically shared across several CCS2 nozzles. The chargers and the kiosks appear to be operational and we are guessing these chargers could go live very soon.

A major DC charging hub like this can greatly alleviate EV range anxiety concerns as it offers multiple high-speed EV charge points in a single location. DC Handal recently upgraded its DC charging hub at JPO which now features a 400kW Autel DC Charger with 8x charging bays and a 200kW Kempower DC charger with 4x charging bays.

Depending on power output, DC Handal chargers are typically priced at RM1.50 per kWh. In some locations such as Menara Matrade and Udini Square in Penang, the chargers are priced at RM1.30 per kWh.
