Dongfeng Box is now officially available in Malaysia. Launched in partnership with Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB), the Box is Dongfeng’s first consumer EV for Malaysia although the company’s electric commercial van, the EC35 has been available in our market since 2022.
Dongfeng Box Malaysia pricing, colourways, warranty
As opposed to the initial information that we stumbled upon earlier this week, it turns out that the Dongfeng Box can be obtained in two variants in Malaysia. Here is its on-the-road pricing, not inclusive of insurance:
- Dongfeng Box E2 – RM100,700
- Dongfeng Box E3 – RM113,700
The new EV can be obtained in four colourways including Purple, Green, White, and Blue. For Purple, Green, and Blue versions of Box E3, customers can choose to have them with a White roof too although this option will increase the price tag to RM115,700.
Dongfeng Box comes standard with a 5-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty while there is also a separate 8-year / 150,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery.

Ahead of its launch today, CADB has revealed the benefits for the early adopters of Dongfeng Box via the promotional poster for the EV’s first public test drive event this weekend. For starters, early birds will be provided with a portable charging unit and front cabin storage.
In addition to that, customers can also choose one of these freebies too:
- EV charging credit worth RM3,000 with 1-year validity
- AC home charger worth RM3,288
- Service maintenance package worth RM3,000
Dongfeng Box quick specs
Also known as Nammi 01, one of the biggest differences between the Dongfeng Box E3 and Box E2 is the capacities of their LFP battery pack. This also affects the range that each variant can deliver.
Specifically, the Box E3 is equipped with a 42.3kWh battery pack which allows the EV to deliver 430km of CLTC-rated range. On the other hand, the Box E2 which has a 31.45kWh battery pack can provide 330km of CLTC-rated range.
However, the CLTC standard is much more forgiving than the WLTP standard which is closer to real-life range. Under the WLTP standard, Box E3 maxes out at 310km while the Box E2 model can provide up to 230km.
Both Dongfeng Box versions for Malaysia have been fitted with a 70kW (94hp) electric motor that also produces 160Nm of torque. The EV has a top speed of 140km/h although its 0-100km/h timing was not revealed.
Another factor that differentiates the Box E3 and E2 is their charging capability. The higher-end E3 comes standard with a 6.6kW AC onboard charger as opposed to the lower-end E2 which has a 3.3kW module.
At the same time, the Box E3 is able to support a DC charging speed of up to 88kW while the Box E2 is limited to 77kW. Despite that, Dongfeng claimed that both variants have the same 30%-80% charging time of 30 minutes.
Not to forget, the Box E3 also features an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with Level 2 autonomous driving. That being said, the Box E2 still has the nifty Adaptive Cruise Control functionality.
There are still plenty of other features that both Box models share including Automatic Parking, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 5-inch digital instrument screen, 2 airbags, and a wireless phone charger.
