After being unveiled to the world on the 19th of November, Asus’ latest gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 9 series, is now officially available in Malaysia.
Available in three models, namely the regular ROG Phone 9, the Phone 9 Pro, as well as the Phone 9 Pro Edition which comes included with ROG’s AeroActive Cooler X Pro in the box, prices for the gaming phone starts from RM3,999.

Asus ROG Phone 9 series Malaysia specs and features
In Malaysia, the vanilla Asus ROG Phone 9 is available in either Storm White or Phantom Black shades, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro and Pro Edition can only be had in Phantom Black.
As you might have known already, the Asus Phone 9 series comes with the unique AniMe Vision mini-LED matrix display, that’s hidden within its back cover, featuring 648 dots on the Pro models and 85 dots on the regular model.
Flip the phone around and you’ll be looking at a 6.78-inch Samsung E6 AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 185Hz. This panel is laid out in a 20:9 aspect ratio and pushes out 2400 x 1080 pixels, with a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.
At the heart of the ROG Phone 9 series is Qualcomm’s latest and greatest smartphone chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and is paired with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
To keep the chipset running cool, Asus has equipped its latest gaming smartphones with its ROG GameCool 9 system, featuring its 360° SoC Cooling System Gen 3 design. Since this is a gaming phone, you will be glad to know that it comes with a pair of capacitive AirTrigger shoulder buttons too.
Speaking of cooling systems and shoulder buttons, The top-of-the-line ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition also comes packed with Asus’ latest AeroActive Cooler X Pro clip-on cooler to help further keep your phone cool when during extensive gaming sessions. This accessory also sports a pair of physical shoulder buttons.
On top of all that, the Asus ROG Phone 9 series is packed with a series of ROG-developed AI-driven gaming features. This includes features that can help with automatically collecting items, recording moments when you win in a game, speeding up in-game conversations that you’ve already gone through before, and even helping your character escape from spells.
Oh, did we not mention that the ROG Phone 9 series also comes with a dual stereo speaker setup as well as a trusty 3.5mm headphone jack? All of these are protected against dust and water thanks to the phones’ IP68 rating.
In the imaging department, the Asus ROG Phone 9 series comes with a 50MP f/1.9 main camera, featuring a 1/1.56″ Sony Lytia 700 sensor and 6-axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabiliser 4.0, along with a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle shooter.
The Pro models also come with a 32MP f/2.4 3x telephoto camera with OIS while the regular ROG Phone 9 sports a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. Handling selfies on the other hand is a 32MP f/2.5 front shooter.
Enabling all of the above features to function is a 5,800mAh battery that can be charged using Asus’ 65W HyperCharge adapter that’s included in the box, via either one of the two USB-C ports that’s available on the device. You can also choose to wirelessly charge the ROG Phone 9 series at 15W.
The Asus ROG Phone 9 series runs on the brand’s ROG UI, which is built atop Android 15. Asus promises to provide its latest gaming smartphones with up to 2 years of major Android version upgrades.
