Realme has just announced that it will be launching the Realme 14x in Malaysia on the 24th of January 2025. This device will succeed the Realme 12x which entered the Malaysian market in May 2024, whilst bringing four major upgrades – improved durability, sleeker design, smarter AI features, and a more powerful chipset.
Realme Malaysia has yet to reveal detailed specs of the Realme 14x, aside from it sporting a Dimensity 6300 5G chipset and a 120Hz display.
Realme 14x specs and features
The Realme 14x was unveiled in India as the global twin of the Chinese market Realme V60 Pro. Featuring a matte surface back cover, the 14x now sports a vertically aligned camera island rather than the circular one on the previous gen 12x.
One of the major upgrades that’s been given to the Realme 14x is in the durability department. Being rated at IP68/69, the Realme 14x is now water- and dust-resistant and has also been MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability certified. This makes the Realme 14x significantly tougher than the 12x which was only dust and splash resistant at IP54.
Speaking of water, the Realme 14x is also equipped with a feature called SonicWave Water Ejection. As its name suggests, this feature can help eject water out of the phone’s speaker after you submerge it underwater.
At the front, the Realme 14x still retains a 6.67-inch HD+ display as its predecessor, which pushes out 1604 x 720 pixels at a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the device is MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 SoC, an upgrade from the 12x’s Dimensity 6100+. Like its predecessor, the Realme 14x is also 5G-enabled.
Internationally, the Realme 14x is offered with either 6GB of RAM or 8GB of RAM and is coupled with 128GB of storage. If this isn’t enough for you, the storage is expandable via microSDXC.
On the imaging side, the Realme 14x is fitted with two camera modules at the back with a main 50MP f/1.8 shooter. You also get an 8MP snapper for selfies.
Keeping lights on for the Realme 14x is a 6,000mAh battery, which is 1,000mAh larger than the one found on the last-gen device. This larger battery can also be charged faster at 45W via USB-C.
Software-wise, the Realme 14x runs on the brand’s Realme UI 5.0, built atop Android 14.
Realme 14x to be priced under RM1,000 in Malaysia?
When the Realme 12x made its launch in Malaysia last year, it was the brand’s most affordable 5G smartphone at the time, featuring a starting price of just RM899 for the 8GB RAM+128GB storage variant. The 8GB RAM+256GB storage variant on the other hand retailed for RM1,099.
So, will the Realme 14x be priced similarly as well? We will have to wait till the 24th of January to find out.
