Nothing is about to launch its first smartphone for 2025 and it’s the Phone (3a) series. It’s not a flagship but the successor to its mid-range Nothing Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus.

Based on a couple of teasers, it appears that the Phone (3a) will the brand’s first smartphone to offer three cameras at the rear. On top of that, the design looks very similar to the Google Pixel 9 Pro series.

Nothing Phone (3a) Launch happening on 4th March

According to Nothing, the Phone (3a) series is set to launch at 10AM GMT (6pm Malaysian time) on 4th March 2025. It is likely that the event will be streamed live from the official YouTube channel.

Previously, Malaysia is among the first wave of countries to get the Nothing Phone (2a) and we reckon that the upcoming Nothing Phone (3a) would be offered in our market shortly after the global unveiling. Based on previous launches, Nothing typically offers a limited drop at Crossover retail outlets in Malaysia before its mass availability through online stores and authorised outlets.

What to expect from Nothing Phone (3a)?

Based on what we are seeing so far, the Nothing Phone (3a) could very well be the brand’s first smartphone with a triple camera setup that includes both ultra-wide-angle and telephoto shooters. As usual, it comes with Glyph interface lights which doubles as notification LEDs.

A leaked prototype device was spotted with a horizontal triple-camera array which consists of a pill-shaped dual-camera and a separate camera lens which could be the telephoto shooter. The main and telephoto cameras are said to be using 50MP sensors while the ultra-wide-angle shooter settles for an 8MP sensor instead.

The same camera bump was also teased in an earlier social post by Nothing on 27th January 2025.

Instead of a MediaTek Dimensity chip, the Nothing Phone (3a) is expected to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 that’s paired with 12GB of RAM along with 256GB of storage. The OLED screen is expected to be bigger at 6.8″ that still pushes Full HD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate.

In the battery and charging department, it is expected to retain the same 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast wired charging as its predecessor.

To recap, the current Nothing Phone (2a) with a Dimensity 7200 Pro chip was launched for RM1,699, while the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus with a Dimensity 7350 Pro chip was launched later with a RM1,999 price tag.
