Oppo has been embarking on a teaser campaign for its upcoming flagship foldable smartphone, the Oppo Find N5, and has confirmed that the phone will debut in China in around two weeks. However, no specific dates have been confirmed as of yet.
Oppo Find N5 to beat the Honor Magic V3 as world’s thinnest foldable flagship
In a teaser, Oppo claimed that the Find N5 will be the world’s thinnest foldable flagship smartphone, albeit with no specific measurements published just yet. But according to a tipster by the name of Abhishek Yadav, the Oppo Find N5 is said to measure 4.2mm when unfolded, making it 1.6mm thinner than its predecessor, the Find N3.
If this turns out to be true, the Find N5 will be snatching the crown from the Honor Magic V3 to become the world’s thinnest book-style foldable. The Magic V3 is the current record holder for the thinnest foldable smartphone, measuring 4.35mm in thickness when opened. Technically speaking, the Huawei Mate XT goes even thinner at 3.6mm. But this one is a tri-fold smartphone, making it an unfair comparison.
Oppo Find N5 could be the first smartphone with Qualcomm’s 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC
The Oppo Find N5 is also expected to be the first smartphone to be powered by a version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite that only comes with seven cores, as compared to the full-fledged octa-core SoC.
With one core less, the hepta-core processor is said to be specially made for foldable smartphones and is expected to be more efficient, which should help give the device better battery life.

What’s confirmed for the Oppo Find N5 is it will be rated for IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 ratings, making it water resistant. The phone is also said to support the brand’s 50W wireless charging technology.
More details on the Oppo Find N5 can be expected as the foldable makes its debut in China in the next couple of weeks. The OnePlus Open 2 is also expected to make its debut as the global twin to the Find N5 soon after.
