EV drivers heading to Johor now have another large-scale DC charging hub to charge their vehicles. DC Handal has just turned on a 28-bay DC Charging Hub at Mall of Medini called Medini EV forecourt, located near Legoland in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
Unlike the EV charging hub at Johor Premium Outlets, this location has a covered forecourt design with individual islands large enough to accommodate electric buses.
As we’ve covered previously, DC Handal has deployed Kempower’s DC charging solution with a total of 28 individual satellite terminals equipped with CCS2 nozzles. These chargers are currently configured to deliver DC charging of up to 300kW.
From what we can see, there are a total of 5 clusters of chargers with 300kW of capacity distributed among 4-6 satellite terminals. In total, this location has a total charging capacity of 1.2MW which is dynamically distributed across the entire site. The site can be expanded further to accommodate increase of demand.

The DC Handal EV forecourt is currently powered by the grid and solar, and they have plans to deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the future.
At the moment, these DC chargers are priced at RM1.30 per kWh, making it one of their most affordable high-powered DC charging sites in the country. Similar to other locations, DC Handal chargers can be activated by tapping your credit or debit card at the provided card terminals. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are supported as well.

For those who prefer to use third-party apps to activate these chargers, DC Handal has roaming agreement with JomCharge and ChargEV. Just search for Medini EV Forecourt in the app and select the charger.

To get the maximum charging rate, it is best to charge on a different cluster of DC chargers. Due to its dynamic power sharing setup, the 300kW charging capacity will be shared across the number of EVs plugged in on the same cluster. There are a total of 5 clusters as shown in the app above, so it is best to spread out and plug-in on a cluster with fewer or no EVs in order to get the best charging rate possible.
There’s no parking fee to enter the location but be reminded that these are not parking bays. Once you’re done charging, you should move your vehicle so that others can charge their vehicles.
