What’s new with the Xpeng X9 2025?

On the surface, the Xpeng X9 2025 looks identical to the existing model and most of the changes are under the skin. The X9 features Turing AI Smart Driving as standard across the lineup using end-to-end large models to deliver a self-driving experience that’s claimed to be comparable to a skilled human driver. Xpeng says customers can immediately enjoy complete autonomous driving software (NGP) out of the box which offers seamless parking lot to parking lot navigation without interruptions.

The Xpeng X9 also features one of the fastest charging technologies in the segment thanks to its 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform. Powered by a 5C Superfast Charging AI battery, 405km range can be added in just 10 minutes and users can charge from 10 to 80% as little as 12 minutes.
In terms of dimensions, the Xpeng X9 is 5293mm long, 1988 wide and 1785mm tall, and has a long wheelbase of 3160mm. Thanks to its active rear-steering system, Xpeng claims the X9’s turning radius is tighter than compact SUVs at only 5.4 metres. During last night’s event, they even showed a demo video of the Xpeng X9 making through a tight corner better than the Smart #3.
Despite its huge size, the Xpeng X9 boasts class leading efficiency of 16.2kWh per 100km which is made possible with its aerodynamic design. The X9 with its “coupe MPV” design has an impressive low drag coefficient rating of just 0.227 Cd.

Another area of improvement is the cabin ride quality and comfort. This includes zero-gravity seats with aisle access to the third row, AI chassis with real-time adaptive suspension and one-click folding third-row seats. The X9 2025 still features intelligent dual chamber air suspension that offers 90mm of adjustability.
Rear occupants still get a massive 21.4″ infotainment display that supports a variety of streaming services, and an integrated 10.8-litre fridge with warming function that can be activated via voice. The MPV is also equipped with a 23-speaker 2180W 7.1.6 XOpera audio system.
Other nice upgrades include 220V in-car power socket and V2L of up to 6kW. There’s also 50W air-cooled wireless charger for the captain seats along with a 60W USB-C port.

In terms of specs, the Long Range and Extended Long Range models come with a single front motor that pushes 235kW (315hp) and 450Nm of torque. Both models are capable of doing 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds, up to a top speed of 200km/h.
If you need more performance, the AWD versions including the “Starship” edition has a dual-motor setup that pushes a total of 370kW (496hp) and 640Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h time is quicker at 5.7 seconds, but it still gets the same top speed of 200km/h.

In terms of battery, the base model comes with a 94.8kWh unit that has a CLTC-rated range of 650km. Meanwhile, the Extended Long Range and above gets a larger 105kWh battery that offers 740km of CLTC-rated range for the single motor version and 702km of CLTC-rated range for the AWD version.
The smaller battery takes 11.7 minutes to charge from 10-80% on DC charging, while the larger battery takes 20 minutes. The DC charging rate isn’t mentioned on the spec sheet but as a comparison, the current Xpeng X9 that’s sold in Malaysia is able to support up to 317kW.
