YG Entertainment Introduces New Girl Group BABYMONSTER

YG Entertainment shared a video for Next Movement talking about their upcoming girl group Babymonster. Before the New Year, YG Entertainment announced the launch of a new girl group, and on New Year's Day the agency announced that the seven-member group will be called Baby Monsters.

The "Next Movement" video released by YG Entertainment features band rehearsals and performances by WINNER, BLACKPINK and AKMU. "You can think of them as children with YG genes," YG founder Yang Hyun-seok introduced them.

BABYMONSTER will be the agency's first new girl group in seven years since BLACKPINK debuted in August 2016.

It's an exciting time for aforementioned K-pop superstar BLACKPINK. Last week the band announced that their Born Pink world tour would be held in Australia in June . The band will perform at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on June 10th and 11th, followed by two shows at Sydney's Kudos Bank Arena on June 16th and 17th.

While this will certainly please Blackpink's Aussie fans, the news comes with a statement from promoter Frontier Touring that the "originally announced show in Auckland will no longer be possible due to 'unforeseen logistical issues'".

The superstars previously performed a special version of their latest single 'Shut Down' with award-winning Swedish violinist Daniel Lajakovic in Paris on January 28th.

The band performed the song at Le Gala des Pieces Jaunes, a benefit concert organized by the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron. The concert, which featured performances by Pharrell Williams and Kid Cudi, was also televised.

Blackpink's "Shut Down" performance began with the band performing Paganini's orchestral violin concerto "La Campanella," which was sampled in the song. Later, the girl group took the stage with Lajakovic playing a cult classic during the performance.
