When David Lacy married his wife, TK, he married his family. She treated her three children, Ashley, Rusty and Courtney, as if they were her own. However, David could not adopt her without her birth father's permission, so he remained her unofficial stepfather.
During his school years and adulthood, David did everything a good father should do for his children. On his 51st birthday, 26 years after David married their mother, his children Ashley, Rusty and Kourtney decided it was time to show him what he meant to them. So, in a loving birthday letter, they asked David to adopt them.
