Capital Region Takes Over Nashville – Musician Annie Scherer has advanced to the final four of Nashville radio station Lightning 100's Music City Mayhem artist competition.

The Voorheesville native, who moved to Nashville in October 2021, learned about the Music City Mayhem competition last year and decided to take a chance and enter this year with no hopes. Shearer was one of 32 Nashville acts selected to participate in Music City Mayhem.

"I really didn't think I was going to hear anything," Scherer said. “When I received the letter that I was a finalist, I was very surprised. I know I have to do my best."

Artists competed with each other, and listeners voted weekly on the Internet for their favorites. Shearer and indie rock band Night Tide are the two acts confirmed for the final four. The remaining two artists will be determined after the last round of voting before the live final.

The final four will battle it out on April 27th in Nashville for Music City Mayhem and Lindsley's 3rd crown. Voting will be held in person and online from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM ET. The grand prize winner will receive an artist design and promotional package valued at $9,700.

Regardless of the outcome, Music City Mayhem has already had an impact on Shearer's career, with her performing her music alongside other contestants' songs at the Lightning 100 competition, and allowing her to connect with more members of the connecting the Nashville music community. However, a win would earn him promotion to the Lightning 100 and heavy airtime and membership on HOME.

"(House membership) is something I've always thought about but never done," Scherer said. “Having this (radio) package and the membership really helps … it's a leap forward. Thanks to everyone who voted and took the time to listen to our music.
